  1. I just saw various photos and videos from this Sun cruise, and I believe the passengers on this trip deserve immediate compensation. Not a future cruise credit.

This was not just routine maintenance with areas affected for short periods of time. The Sun is a small ship and the loud noise, dust, and fumes from all the work were probably very difficult to get away from. Does any one know how many days this was going on?

When I first started reading this thread I thought a few people were over reacting to their experience on the ship, but I changed my mind after watching the videos and seeing the photos.

The work continued for the entire 16 day cruise...the acetone smell came and went, never constant in our area, the noise on the pool deck was probably more than half the days, but was unusable for the entire cruise. The construction noise from las ramblas was the entire cruise.

  2. Disembarkation was a circus to be honest. Being Canadian probably didn't help once we got off the ship. USA residents were told to line up on the right side (outside of the cruise terminal just off the ship) and all non residents were to line up on the left. Our line moved slower than Molasses in January.

After being in the line for almost 45 min. of mostly standing, then moving 5-7 steps only to wait some more was not pleasant. Then someone from the Port told those who are Canadian residents, that were well behind us and had only been there briefly, to jump the rope barrier and go where the US residents line was. Well because that line was empty you can imagine the uproar from those of us who had been waiting longer ! When asked why not those of us who were here longer, she shrugged her shoulders and kept walking........ we all loved her so much for that .

Once inside, it was a breeze, our shuttle did not leave until 9:45. Arrived at LAX about 30 mins. later, so you should have no problem catching a 1 PM flight at all. Our flight was for 1:13 scheduled that is lol. Was delayed for 1 hour, but we made it home 10 mins sooner than we were actually scheduled for ! Jet stream was very strong, so we made up the time and then some, 4 hours 6 min to Toronto ! Not Bad at all.

If I may suggest, if you can, do a self disembarkation. These started @ 7:30 am and the "coloured tags" started about 8:30 ish.

    Thanks Umpy!

  3. Sorry if this is an already asked and answered question...if we purchase $500 obc for our cruise can we then use it in the casino or withdraw it and use it to pay for private excursions? If we go to the casino cashier to get it from our card will they charge us the 3% fee? We are trying not to have to carry lots of cash onboard and I'm not sure if this will help the situation...thank you!

  4. We just purchased a 12 bottle package for our room on a 16 day cruise. I don't mind the water onboard, but the DH does t like the taste, so I take a refillable bottle from home and he drinks the bottled water. For excursions though, we fill my bottle from the bottled water to take with us.

  5. We cruised the Med during Holy Week on board the Epic in March of 2016. There were many meatless options, and a Good Friday and Easter Mass were celebrated! Your ship program will list various Easter and religious events.

We're cruising the Mexican Riviera during Holy Week this year on the Star, and while we're very excited, I can't imagine anything more glorious than Easter Morning in Palma! I hope you have a wonderful cruise and Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to you as well!

  6. Hi everyone! We will be on the Sun March 16-March 31. So Good Friday will be our final night onboard. Can anyone who sailed during that time frame comment on any special decor for Easter? Hope there are lots of choices for meatless meals that day as well? Thank you

  7. I agree it will be close. Figure you need to be there by 10:00. You need to be the first to walk off the ship with your own luggage and hopefully there is no wait for cabs or Uber. The 110 freeway has an on ramp just as you leave the port area. Traffic should not be too bad on a Saturday.

However things happen in LA that might slow you down. One time we were the first to get off the ship but we were delayed until after 10:00. The ship was late getting to port due to fog. One time there were not enough agents for customs (but usually it is pretty good). Good luck on the freeway. It should be OK Saturday morning unless it rains or there is a major traffic accident or construction or police activity. All of which can cause freeway nightmares! Then once get to LAX good luck. I can be congested with traffic especially when there is construction going on. . I have seen huge lines for security and check in.

Thank you, I changed the flight to 1:05 pm so hope that will work better.

  8. Our flight was at 2:25. We were off the ship a little after 8:30 and on the bus at 8:45. The bus left a little after 9:00 and we were at the ticket counter about an hour later. I didn’t notice where the taxis and Ubers were as we were being herded out of the terminal and focused on finding the bus. Hope this info is helpful.
