  1. Just a thought or two.

Surely Silversea has business interruption insurance? The question is if war or terrorism is covered in their policy and the amount of coverage.

Wouldn’t that factor into their decision making and risk/benefit analysis at some point?

However at some point too, the huge open and obvious danger to passengers and crew and vessel must tip the scales.

Wonder if the insurance helps with reimbursement by the cruise line to the pocket of the pax.

    Hi

We are cruising on the Nova on 5/2 from Buenos Aries to date we have not had any information about our luggage labels , we obtained our cruise ticket from TA  on Sunday but no labels.

A few years ago we cruised on the Silver Wind and a received a box containing the luggage labels and nice metal fasteners for the labels we were very impressed,

has their format changed and you will get the luggage  labels at the post cruise hotel.

Any information would be appreciated. Flights from the UK.🤔

No more silver box or laminated luggage tags since Covid. Not sure if or when that will return.

Way back in my uni days I worked in an upmarket Sydney hotel as a cleaner. One night I was cleaning the toilets when the manager came down and says come upstairs have a shower and we have a suit for you. Two of our waiters didn't turn up tonight.

So 15 minutes after going upstairs I was serving Hors D'oeuvres to the American Ambassador.

But that's not all. Rojaan's sister owned a cafe and every couple of weeks we took over for a night or 2. Rojaan being perfect out front and I was the sous chef. My job was mainly making sure the cook didn't get totally drunk.

Who knew!!! Great stories we have to tell! Thanks for sharing!

I Passed David Jones just before reaching the Hotel. Sweet dreams my fellow coolers. I Finally found the kill switch only a 5 minute walk away by the front door.

A bit of late night exercise before sleep.

With that view I would have trouble sleeping though.

  6. I see that you posted about this topic before.

    I did send photos before.

Note that the wind and the cloud are older vessels.  I suggest you do a search to see more contemporaneous posts regarding these two ships.

  7. You cannot compare Svalbard and Alaska expedition cruises except for the cold weather. They are totally different. Think polar bears vs brown bears. Walrus and seals and otters. The Bering Sea. Dutch Harbor. Bear guards in Svalbard. Mountains and icebergs and pristine beauty. Landing on small islands where no human lives. Seeing the paw prints of a small animal and a large animal on the beach. Wildflowers of breathtaking beauty. Seabirds. Eagles.

Both cruises were exceptional. But know what you are getting into. Expedition cruising involves a commitment to getting up early, donning the outerwear, the boots etc. climbing into a zodiac, and then out of a zodiac, sometimes into the water (hence the boots). Going to the briefings to learn about the next days events. Being exhausted at night! In our opinion both were remarkable, once in a lifetime experiences.

I tried to upload some photos but the internet is not cooperating.

I cannot speak to the classic cruises for either location.

  8. We loved our expedition cruises to Alaska and Svalbard. Very active intense fun days! You are up early in the morning. In our case to don all the clothing and get breakfast.

There are briefings you must attend to learn about the next days events.  At night a piano player and some silly stuff like liars club was just right, because you are exhausted. Think camp for grownups.

This seems like a viable option for gentlemen - nice slacks, a collar AND bowtie, cuffs & cufflinks - should at least work for non-formal nights...😁
