I used to drink mine on the rocks in a tall glass - more refreshing at a hot lunchtime by the pool.

I seem to recall a long lunchtime on deck with Spins (the Shadow? Maybe the actual Spirit?) and quite a number of Silver Spirits … at least, I think I was there …

Methinks it was the Spirit. Before the stretch??? Lovely memories.

  2. I may have missed this but is that huge board with the antipasti presented at the beginning of dinner in LaT?  We requested that it not be brought since we could not do justice to it and then have anything else.

The current menu is beyond abbreviated when compared to the prior one.

No, you are certainly not wrong given our recent 33 days' experience on the Nova.  A friend who was on the Nova TA is also doing the Dawn TA, and I am hoping she will have better news to report about the Dawn.  The Nova was quite frankly disappointing in almost all respects.

Was waiting to hear from you about your experience. I hope this gets fixed ASAP, but I have my doubts. One cannot report about a negative aspect without a counter, but that's what makes the world go round. At least one may express views here that aren't only positive.

Hi Spins, the picture may not give the greatest dimension but I had no problems with the tables in the theater.

For someone who has a cane that would be near to impassable and impossible. What if someone has a drink or two on the table?

    Are there dedicated handicapped seats?

Does the jogging path go thru the restaurant? Egads

The Venetian Lounge (up and down, plus lateral view of some of the sofas there).  The plexiglas on the balcony levels was a bit obstructing, if you were in the front row.

As noted in my review, there was no drink service pre-show, and a strange smell of the synthetic furniture coverings prevailed.

The singers and band in action (good voices, it was mostly just not my kind of music other than some of the bluesier Motown at the end ).  I would love to have heard those voices applied to some more melodic and less showy Chicago or Mississippi blues, with a double shot of fine bourbon from the Connoisseur's Lounge cabinet,  and . . .

As noted in my  review, the guest artists were very good  and suited to a small ship venue (old rocker, comedians, and a Broadway diva).  SS can  hold its own compared with what Seabourn offers  (but cannot hold a candle to Hapag Lloyd small luxury ships because HL does classical, and hires well-known tango groups, but I know most people don't want classical music or tango).

How does one get around those tables in the theater?

  6. Just for clarification, we have heard nothing from Silversea regarding our experience in suite 726 since disembarkation. We received nothing from them during the cruise but we did get an acknowledgement letter mid cruise saying they were “sorry” and that they were trying to fix the issue. It never was fixed.

And yes, in the main, we have enjoyed our cruises with Silversea. The crew are stellar. We’ve met some lovely people aboard.

The first segment of this cruise was an expedition cruise, the second half definitely was not. This doesn’t have an impact on us, we knew what the itinerary was and we chose the voyage for the opportunity to see Iceland and Greenland. There were lots of weather issues, these don't bother us, we enjoy varied weather at sea!

The vessel was the destination for us.

It was just the pump things when were on board.  We always bring our own (bar) soap, though, because of my fragrance allergy.

I bring my own soap as well but i really detest the pump things for shampoo or conditioner or body wash. I guess the refillable pumps save on plastic and pax filling their suitcases with fragranced soaps, etc.

  8. Yikes again as to the closet with the tabletop in a bad location. Being height challenged i could not use the top hanging area, but fortunately dr spins could reach it easily. I agree with JJ, having to peer through all stuff hanging in that cubbie (like in kindergarten) is not ideal.

Wow to the laundry room! Very industrial.

    Thanks for reporting.

  9. A month and some days later…

We cancelled our upcoming expedition cruise.

We are still feeling quite bruised by our experience on the Cloud, specifically as to the sewage odors which could not be fixed. Many did try to fix it, or at least made it look as if they were trying to fix the problem. The engineer who told us that it could never be fixed was the most honest of the lot.

While those in charge gave lip service to the issue, acknowledging it with the polite “I’m so sorry”, and “the crew is trying to fix it”, as soon as we were off the ship they washed their hands of us.

Approaching 500 days and years of cruising with Silversea, we feel trod upon.

Will we ever cruise with Silversea again?
