(1) If this is the Eclipse we found the air conditioning perfect throughout the ship neither too hot or too cold. That was in the Med when the temperatures outside were in the high 20s
(2) I think the rules don't apply to children
(3) Our cruise didn't have many children on at all, but I'm not aware of any rule that says children aren't allowed in the MDR on formal night.
No where on the Celebrity website does it have separate "rules" for children and dress codes. This is the dress code from the website:
Evenings aboard Celebrity include two types of dress: "Smart Casual and Above" and "Formal."
"Smart Casual and Above"
Ladies: Skirt or pants (no holes, rips or tears) with a sweater or blouse.
Gentlemen: Pants (no holes, rips or tears) with a sports shirt or sweater. Shirts must have sleeves.
"Formal" attire:
Ladies: Cocktail dress, gown, or a dressy pantsuit.
Gentlemen: Tuxedo, suit or dinner jacket with slacks.
Note: T-shirts, swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurant or specialty restaurant at any time. Shorts and flip-flops are not allowed in the evening hours. The dress code will be enforced at all restaurants. And guests are asked to follow the "Smart Casual and Above" dress code in the Celebrity Theater for all evening performances.

Thanks for your request!
We'd also like some responses from experienced Summit cruisers about San Juan.
You might get more information from the San Juan board in Ports of call

I am not sure where you are located but we sailed out of San Juan last November and it really didn't cost us much more to fly to Puerto Rico to sail than it would have to sail from Florida. We loved San Juan, and we loved the itinerary on this cruise. We went to Antigua, Barbados, St Lucia, St Martin and St Thomas.

We did it. We spent 2-3 hours at Coral World, went to the beach for another hour or 2, went back to Coral World for a quick shower (once your admission is paid, you can come and go at will) and hopped a cab to Magic Ice. We had lunch at a restaurant within walking distance of the ice bar, went to the ice bar and took a cab back to the cruise ship with plenty of time to spare

We thought so, we had a great time. One of the highlights of our trip.

It seems like we were out a couple of hours on the boat. Plenty of time in the water both over the shipwreck and with the turtles. We were just finishing up when the other groups arrived which was very nice. There were chairs and umbrellas available but I can't tell you the cost, we just spread our towels on the sand. We left around noon and it wasn't overly crowded in my opinion. There were some food carts but again, we didn't get anything to eat, just a couple bottles of water so can't tell you the cost.

I have never been to Cozumel so can't say anything about it but we sailed to Nassau years ago and really enjoyed it. I agree with the above posters that Celebrity beats out Carnival any day. We sailed Celebrity last year and will never sail on Carnival again.

Check out Tours with Ellis. He is on Facebook and also on Craigslist. He took us to the rainforest, showed us the sights then took us to a swimming hole. It was a short hike, he handed us a loaf of bread and towels. We swam with the fish in the rainforest and they are so tame they eat out of your hand. When we were done there, he took us to the food kiosks and we experienced some local food. He took us to the cruise ship terminal at the end of the day. This was one of the highlights of our trip. If this is not something you are interested in, he offers several different tours. I highly recommend him. My daughter and I are going back to PR in January for a week and have another tour booked with him.

We took a taxi to Payne's beach. There was a guy with a glass bottom boat that took us out (about a group of 12) to swim with the turtles and snorkel over a "shipwreck". It was $25 each.

We were there early last November. The taxi ride was not long, maybe 20 minutes. There is a guy with a glass bottom boat that took out for $25 each to swim with the turtles and snorkel over a "shipwreck". We went straight to the beach and were out swimming with the turtles before any big groups. We didn't stay long at the beach itself so can't tell you much.

Down another # since Thanksgiving. Total 23# since Aug. Hoping to maintain through the holidays
-
Happy thanksgiving to everyone! Congratulations to those who have lost. Be sure to set your scale back 10# tonight!!
I have lost the 2# I gained on the cruise and have been maintaining. I think I will try to maintain through Christmas and then lose another 10#. AT that point, I will re-evaluate.
-
Sorry I missed last weeks weigh in but I was on my cruise. Got on the scale yesterday and only showed a 2# gain so am happy about that. Should be able to lose that much this week.

We had our tour Sunday. Despite the federal shutdown. Ellis still made this tour happen. We werent able to go to the main tourist area in the rainforest, but he took us on two other trails that he said is mostly frequented by locals. He indicated that the locals would revolt if they tried to keep them off these trails. Both trails led to a nice water area, fed fish, and saw some brave souls climbing rocks and swinging out a rope to dive and jump into the water. After both hikes he then took us to a local small place to eat. We had pork, rice and beans. It was a good day. He even stopped twice for us, to get drinks, use restroom, and pick up some beer for our night at the hotel. He was a very nice gentleman. He is originally from PA, but has lives in PR for almost 35 years. You should have a great time! :)
Thanks for the review! I have been in touch with him regarding the shutdowns but he thinks we should be ok to visit the rainforest.

I have a tour set up w/ him for 10/6. I will let you know how it is. He has a facebook page as well. You might want to touch base w/ him to see if he is available.
I have been in touch with him and see seems very nice. Let me know how your tour goes.

Anybody use him? Any thoughts? We will have all day Saturday before we sail. DH is having second thoughts about the rental car. Thinking about doing this:

MY TOP TIP for travel
(wish I learned a long time ago)
One Thing I learned along time ago is to scan your Passport and travel Docs, credit cards both sides, and all other important info like boarding pass, travel insurance etc.
Send the scanned images to your email.
We used to photocopy it all, but what happens if you lose all luggage and or wallet then all info is gone, but we all HAVE EMAIL and can access it anywhere.
happy travels, Nat :D
That's a great idea, if you don't have a scanner, you could take pics with your cell phone also.

thank you for all the words of encouragement. I am 49 and DD is 24. Of course, she gives me grief because I am "old and slow" but she has an old leg injury and has to take things slow also.

I have never in my life been a runner, not even in Jr High or High school but I have seriously been thinking about training for a 5K. I would love to do the color run and it is in August. Please somebody tell me if I am totally nuts..............
