  1. Gotta love people who think the rules apply to everyone but them because they are "special". We love Celebrity because there are few kids and teeny boppers. We use the solarium for the same reason. If I did take children on board, we would expect to follow the rules just like everybody else.

  2. For those occasions when you might need sunblock AND insect repellant, try Bullfrog. Bullfrog combines sunscreen with insect repellant in one spray. It's usually right next to the Coppertone and other sunscreen lotions.;)

I worked in pharmacy for years. Bullfrog is the BEST sunscreen out there especially if you need waterproof. My daughter is a very light skinned red head and burns very easily. On our caribbean cruise last year we sprayed her with Bullfrog before we left our cabin in the morning and she never burned. We MAY have reapplied once during the day, after being in the water but that was it.

  3. So what exactly did you do in the rainforest? Was the hiking difficult?

We saw the waterfall, and the observation tower. He took us down another road and he gave us directions to hike a short distance the a swimming hole. He gave us some bread and the fish came up and ate out of our hands. We stayed and swam about an hour. It was really neat and one of the highlights of our trip

  4. We have a 30 year anniversary coming up in Jan 2017. I plan my vacations early so I can pretty well pay for it with cash.

DH and I sailed with our adult daughter on the Summit to the Caribbean last Nov (Antigua, Barbados, St Lucia, St Thomas, St Martin) We really enjoyed it. My DH says if we take another cruise he would like to sail on the Summit again out of SJ. Our anniversary is in January but he doesn't want to plan a vacation when there is a chance of having travel plans ruined by snow (we live in Arkansas so the weather is pretty unreliable)

So, that leaves us with cruising a few months before our anniversary in Oct, Nov, or early Dec or waiting a couple months late and cruising in late March, April, or May. We would definately want to avoid spring break as one of the reasons he likes Celebrity is the lack of children and teenagers running around. Are there any advantages to cruising in different months?

Which months do you prefer a caribbean cruise and why?

  5. We are also going to be in San Juan in January and are looking for reliable tour company....so you were pleased with Ellis tours?

YES!! we loved Ellis. He picked up the 3 of us at our hotel promtly at 9am. He took us to the rain forest, showed us the sights and then took us to a hidden swimming hole where we swam and the fish come up and eat out of your hand. He even provided towels and bread to feed the fish. When we were done there, he took us to the kiosks for some lunch and explained what the different food items were. After lunch, he took us to the cruise ship.

We enjoyed him so much. He is friendly and knowledgable about the area. My daughter and I are spending a week in Puerto Rico next month and one of the first things we did was book another tour with him.

  6. I wear Keen sandals pretty much all the time on a cruise. They are extremely comfortable and are perfect for any shore excursion. Expensive, but worth every penny.

LOVE my keens. I have a pair of the whisper sandals that I bought 3-4 years ago, wore them to work almost every day spring through fall (they met the requirements that toes must be covered), wore them all over the caribbean on our cruise last year, wear them to the lake all the time and they still look good.

  7. Ditto to most of the above.

We don't holiday as much as we would like but we have enjoyed our previous cruises, they all have been wonderful. We have been on a couple of Princess and Star cruises (Singapore) & a Celebrity cruise but Celebrity beat them hands down and so have booked to do another next year. Must say though am getting a bit disheartened reading some posts re suites & specialty restaurants, as it appears that because we can not afford to be in a suite & then not eat other than the MDR, we are inferior. Maybe Celebrity would like us (not sure) but not feeling the love from CC people. Hoping to hear from some regular people that want to cruise on Celebrity. I think the thing is Suite people talk about their special dining room in a way that it seems they might catch something eating with us poor people in the MDR. Maybe I am the only one feeling this way, but we don't tend to have much of a class thing in Oz and I'm feeling the class thing reading on here.

Oh well if I get flamed will just cancel my membership. Can still enjoy a cruise without being a CC member!!

Tina, I am with you. We cruise in an ocean view or Heaven forbid an interior cabin. We only use the cabin to shower, change clothes, and sleep for the most part so can't see spending my hard earned money on anything more expensive. We only eat in the MDR and we don't drink

much alcohol so we are satisfied for the most part with what is offered free of charge.

  8. We used Ellis last November and are planning to use him again in January

He picked us up at our hotel, took us to the rainforest, we swam with the fish in the rainforest and they ate out of our hands. We stopped at the kiosks and had local food and then he delivered us to the port. I can't say enough good about him. You won't be disapointed. He offers many, many different tours and will customize for you.

  9. WE used Ellis last November and loved him. He picked us up at our hotel, took us to the rainforest, we swam with the fish and fed them, stopped to eat some local food and he delivered us to the cruise terminal. We liked him so much that my daughter and I have another tour booked with him next month when we go to San Juan for a week. If I can answer anything specific, let me know.
