  1. You can use the OBC to pay gratuities once you are onboard. It makes no sense to me, but it appears to be the rule.
  2. It’s only for people on the ship and it’s very glitchy and spotty service wise. Sometimes your text goes through right away and sometimes it doesn’t go through for an hour or more. That’s why we switched to the iPhone WiFi messaging. We never had a missed text and they went through immediately both to our family on the ship and our family back home. We all have iPhones, but will texting work without all of us having Wi-Fi?
  3. Yes that’s what I was trying to say. When I said “all you need is WiFi and it’s free” I was hoping that it was understood that WiFi was needed. I meant your carrier doesn’t charge you for the texts since your phone would be roaming. And you don’t get charged for the phone calls or video chats using Snapchat either. Sorry for the confusion. I’m not sure about the voip. Anyone have any experience with Carnival’s messaging that they charge $5.00 per person to text among yourselves?
  4. I can’t be the only doubter out here. Anyone who has cruised knows that it is not so easy to go overboard. It would be very difficult, but not nearly as difficult as treading water for 20 hours when not sober. This story does not ring true on so many levels!
  5. https://www.ebhotels.com/miami this has all that u requested. I am staying there 12/26. The reviews are excellent
  6. https://www.ebhotels.com/miami theyhave a shuttle from the airport
  7. Thanks so much for the info. Is it pretty easy to get a taxi back to the ship from either place? Thanks again.
  8. We have an independent tour booked and I am wondering which of these might be better for a few hours of snorkeling and lunch. Thank you for any advice.
  9. We are taking a private tour of Cozumel and then want to snorkel and lunch at one of these. I will be with two 20 year olds and a 13 year old. What might be your preference? Thank you.
  10. I think it is pretty common to ask the waiter to just bring extra tails. I know I have done it more than once.
  11. Cruise back to Miami and our plane is not until 3:30. I am booked on a tour through the cruise line that will conclude by taking us to the airport. Are there any independent tours that would pick us up at the port and finish by dropping us off at MIA? thank you!
  12. I thought that I have read some say that the iMessage worked without a plan. Is that true?
  13. Any more current info? Has anyone ever done the “ Swimming with pigs” that is offered as an “add-on?” We are going to Roatan around Xmas and I have a day planned with Rony’s. I guess that this would be an either/ or situation as one would need to take a boat to LFK. I’ll be appreciative of any info you might be able to provide. Thank You

  15. I’m going on my second Carnival cruise over New Year’s eve. The other one I was on had an incident with a teenage girl which wasn’t nearly as bad as some of those recent ones. They posted a security outside of the family’s cabin and escorted them off at the next port.
  16. How do you find out what type of parties will be on your cruise such as “the white party?”
  17. I have booked this hotel for 12/26/22, https://www.ebhotels.com/miami. They have free transportation from the airport and a breakfast for $10 pp. they also have a cruise and stay pkg that includes a shuttle to the port, but it is more cost effective to Uber. I have read that this is not an area one would want to walk around, but we are arriving in the evening and leaving in the am. Rates are very reasonable. I took a cruise President’s Day 2018 out of Fort Lauderdale. We found a place for $200, Rodeway Inn. I would never stay there again. This is not much more than that and looks very nice.
  18. I did Princess to Hawaii, 1/22. Admittedly, we were just coming out of Covid. The ship was about 45% full. The food and customer service was very good, but the average age was ancient and I am in my early 70’s. There were next to no activities. I will be going on the Celebration over New Years with grandchildren. They would have been so bored on the Princess. It will be my second Carnival and I will be most disappointed if the food isn’t very good. Although Carnival may be less that others, this is far from cheap!
  19. I am on that cruise. I booked a party of 5 at 5:30 at Teppanyaki on 12/29/22 . I made the reservation on 9/4 and they charged me.
  20. If I want to purchase Wi-Fi for only the last to days of our cruise, do I need to wait till then to buy it?
  21. We will be staying mid beach, but I see more selection of restaurants in south beach. It will be the day before our cruise. I was thinking of GF pizza or Mexican food. Any input will be appreciated.
  22. Have you considered Hawaii out of the west coast? I did a 15 day out of San Francisco last January. There are next to no kids.
