  1. Once again, as usual....I am following the weather reports of the ports we will visit. When I saw the forecast for Punta Arenas (our next scheduled port for tomorrow) I was concerned. 28 mile sustained winds, with 48 mile an hour gusts. And...once again...a tendered port. Captain came on as we left Ushuaia just now, to tell us we had an 80% chance of no go. Since we had a Penguin tour set up for Magdalena Island nature preserve with 1.5-2 hour ferry ride one way across the turbulent Magellan straits...I was already more than concerned as it was. Oh well...getting used to these "sea days"....and made us appreciate the last two days at beautiful Ushuaia. Would we want to come back here again someday...oh yes! 😉
  2. Bye...bye Ushuaia. Been a grand visit. 🙂 Little expedition ships gave us a fond "toot - toot" as we left. Of course answered by our comparably larger toot toot. 😉
  3. Bucky picked up another member of his little pet family. 😉 Center stage.
  4. Not the only crab restaurant in town....but I thought it was the most eclectic. Love the little Mom and Pop historical places. Definitely the most popular King Crab restaurant in town.
  5. Bucky was way too involved with the process...OK..some work involved...but sooo worth it. 😉
  6. Had a wonderful self tour today. Made it back to the ship at 1:25...though we are fast walkers...which helps. 😉 The problem of course...to have lunch in town...are the hours for lunch. The earliest restaurants open at noon...some not until 12:30 or 1:00. With a 1:30 all aboard...we were taking our chances having lunch in town, with a long walk down the long pier to get back to the ship. After a 3 hour walk down every street we could find...we stumbled on the most popular fresh King Crab restaurant in town. Tiny little "Mom and Pop" restaurant that has been there for years. Luckily I stood on the doorstep 10 minutes before opening time...the line starting forming just after us. Wow. Shots from the restaurant before it became packed, with additional lines forming once it was fully seated. Oh wow...great choice! We chose the recommended King Crab for two. Picked out our victim from the tank...and set up with a great bottle of Argentine Sauvignon Blanc wine. 😉 Picture of the cute little restaurant before it became completely nuts with incoming people. Interesting use of kitchen shears, versus "crab crackers" we use for Maine Lobster.
  7. After both Le Boreal and World Traveler left yesterday afternoon, we had these two expedition ships move in last night. Then this morning another 2 expedition ships arrived. Full port today....though the little ships don't hold near as much. Pretty cool to see the National Geographic Explorer...have only watched articles on TV about it. Calm flat water today, but still cloudy. Saving money on sunscreen. 😉 No tour today, so we will continue our walking tour of town again and find a nice seafood restaurant for lunch. 😋 All aboard is 1:30 pm.
  8. Still meeting new ones. 466 new pax came on board in Buenos Aires. Which is over 1/4 of the ship since we are not full.
  9. This is worrying us as well. We have prepaid flights and hotel booked in Barcelona as 2 days in advance of ship arriving, waiting for the 3rd quarter to end there to begin our 4th quarter. Now we are not sure the ship will still arrive on July 10th as scheduled. 🥺
  10. Very good. Kind of like Lamb jerky...but more tender. The Snow and King Crab was my favorite though. Soooo good! Had plenty of extra tastes. 😄
  11. Next stop...dessert and wine shop. Bucky checking out the huge "wall of wine" and offering a sample at the bar. 😉 Some dessert wine paired with local decadent chocolate. Was a great time with good people. 🤗
  12. On to lunch at a really beautiful restaurant on the waterfront.. Fantastic food...and wine of course. 😉
  13. Our "foodie tour" aka "Taste of Ushuaia" was really nice. Only 8 of us, plus another crew member from the shops on board. First stop was a smoke house/fresh fish market. Toured behind the scenes with the smokers, a left over monster fish (head) from one of the processes. Then tasting some crab, smoked cheese, and smoked lamb.
  14. So nice to be able to get off the ship today...after 8 days "at sea". 😉 Yes, was told by Guest services today, that we stopped off at the little town well before coming to Ushuaia to bring on customs agents to stamp passports...agents from both Chili and Argentina. Lots of stamping going on there! 😮
  15. Hello Ushuaia. Le Boreal and World Navigator docked up ahead of us...aft to aft. Tour buses already angling for position. World Navigator (blue hull facing out) does 8 night Antarctica trips from here with her 192 pax. No stops...just touring and then back here. Very pretty little ship.
  16. Ushuaia pilot coming aboard. Gave a us a friendly little toot-toot as he left. Nice boat!
  17. LOL...it is 7 am local time here in Ushuaia. I was up at 3 am this morning walking the deck trying to figure out why we were stopped...now that was early. 😉
  18. World Navigator already docked up ahead of us, plus expedition ship Le Boreal. Previously, when we were sitting in the channel, one of the ice breaker ships was next to us...though I sure don't see any ice. It's rather nice weather here...no wind and 48 degrees with the pretty snow capped mountains as a back drop. 🙂
