  1. Does The Yacht Club send out an email to guests to find out special needs or requests prior to boarding?
  2. I was just on the island last month for 2 days. Yep, not much other than beach time and food with a few stores thrown in. The wave runner rentals are for a tour. A leader will lead the group around and show you stuff for what I have been told and read. I hear it is single line, no wild running.... I have same itinerary booked for late January, but in the Yacht Club. Will enjoy the perks of the YC Beach amenities there and also bring my iPad to read or watch some movies just to stay off the ship.
  3. Just got off Liberty Friday. There were 2 movie channels and 2-3 regular tv channels. It must be on a few selected ships that do not have it.
  4. Since sail date is less than month away, Carnival will keep the base rate you paid. You have to file claim through the insurance to get some money back. Carnival will keep some too. I know this because I just called them Saturday to switch cruises. They could not just move me. They cancelled me. Since it was past final payment date, Carnival kept it all and told me I have to contact my Insurance company to get what ever they allowed back. Calling insurance company revealed I have to have an authorized reason and submit paperwork from Dr saying what my issue is. Bottom line, you will have to jump through hoops to get a portion of your money back. But maybe by 2023, you will have it all resolved.
  5. I used my phone, with no internet service for the app. I booked a spa item in person, and got a text reminder on my phone about 15 minutes before the schedule time. Guess my phone number is linked to my room so they send texts that way. I also used the app to make breakfast seat appointments. It worked just fine. With my phone, I was able to see the scheduled events throughout the day, just not the menus. As for menus, I just off the Liberty Friday. No menu would show up. Our table mates for dinner had the same issue. Screen would keep timing out and not produce any of the menus. I kept checking through the day, and still nothing. Not sure what happen. I have a December cruise booked on Freedom. Bottom floor, last room, inside cabin. Inside cabin and that low will be a new experience to me. LOL. I want to see if inside cabins will suit my needs for future single cruises. I am use to balconies and suites.
  6. I would, if I had enough time, travel up US-1 North of Portland to Freeport to stop in LL. Bean's flagship store, then continue up US-1 to Brunswick to SR-24 that leads to Bailey Island. Its an old quaint village with a gift store at the waters edge. Beautiful. At least was in the mid 80's when I lived in Brunswick. Then next town North is Bath. Small quaint downtown. There is a shipyard there where Navy Destroyers are built. Not sure if tours are done. I lived a block or 2 away from there in the mid 80's as well. Then just travel up US-1. You will see a ton of restaurants for lobster rolls. I use to get them off the pier for a $1 a pound steamed right there then bring home in the mid 80's. Am sure those days are long gone. You can go as slow as you need or as fast. Just know the faster you go, the more you will miss. Bottom line. Go US-1 North after Portland and you can's go wrong... There, thats my 2 cents worth for visiting Maine.
  7. Not sure how full it was, but felt more than last month cruise I took on MSC. But the wait time for a seat at breakfast was less than 10 min if you did not use app to book seat. As always, buffet lines vary, but was OK. We arrived onboard 1st day about 12:30. Buffet was a zoo. Like looking at dear in headlights. Was comical to watch. As always, the elevators were a hit and miss on speed. Some were X'ed out for use. One thing that surprised me was on the night before coming back to Port Canaveral, the workers collecting luggage were using 3 of the 4 mid ship elevators, blocking the general public from using. As for planning ahead. Get the Carnival app to book what you can book like sit down dining for breakfast, and a few other things. Anything I was able to book using the app, I would get a text as a reminder close to the time or a text that seat was ready. Using the app is free onboard. I saw a bunch of people using their cell phones to keep in touch by voice and text with their group scattered around the ship. Not sure what that entails though. I just booked another Liberty cruise, same itinerary, for January.
  8. IF I make it to Bimini. I want to charter a fishing boat. I hear the fishing off that island is superb. I looked at excursions that Carnival has there. No fishing, So I will have to make my own arrangements.
  9. No. I have not been. I was just looking at the 3 dayer earlier Liberty has that does Bimini. I want to check off that location and then saw a RCL that goes there and Bermuda. Another place I have not been. Both ships are out of Port Canaveral....close to me, so I will probably book the RCL cruise to get 2 locations checked off my bucket list.
  10. BTW, I had off port parking. Very easy and relaxing. It was a breeze getting on the ship and off. We arrived around noon. We were eating lunch in the buffet by 12:30. Getting off was also a breeze. This crew has it organized well. Security getting on was a breeze as was customs getting off.
  11. Yes it will be. The Disney Wish had the closest berth.
  12. Just got off a 4 day Liberty cruise. I must say, I would rate it as 90 out of 100. There are no broadway type shows...at least on this cruise. Staff was outstanding. Very accommodating. Very nice and polite. We had a very energetic Cruise Director. He was all over the ship doing stuff plus over the PA. Dustin was his name. He told me he was leaving soon for a ship heading to Hawaii. Food was good in both the sit down dining rooms and the buffets. Only breakfast and dinner served in the sit down dining room except for Brunch served on sea day. But that is only until 12 noon. Guy's burgers and fries were good. Its FREE. Did Nassau and Princess Cay for ports. Had to ferry over to Princess Cay. Pier at Nassau is slowly being renovated. We had the last berth out. It is a HAUL to get to the street from that berth!!!! Be ready for a LONG walk to get even to the street from the ship. They did have golf cart shuttles for those that wanted to wait around for one. Butttt, there were 3 ships in at the time. Very crowded and busy pier. Weather was outstanding all 4 days with a small exception of some quick rain showers here and there on 1 day. I only watched the gambling in the casino each night. No gambling loses to report. I had a $100 bill I was willing to use, but never dug deep enough in my pocket to show it the light... LOL They have activities throughout the day. Am sure you can find at least 1 thing you would enjoy doing. The Carnival app was useful in knowing the schedule of events. But I or our table mates could never get the app to show the menu's. The waiters wanted us to use the app. But gave us hard copies of the menu after explaining that menu's were just not showing up any time. I had a balcony and only had 1 power outlet in the cabin. Found another one later in the week in the bathroom, up high, to the left of the mirror. Taught me to bring a power strip and keep it for future sailings. Drinks, both booze and soft drinks were VERY expensive. Still not enough for me to purchase the Cheers package or Bubbles package. I am talking $7 domestic beers plus 18% gratuity and $10.50 for the starting price of the fufu drinks. Soft drink was $3.50 If I remember right and then the 18% gratuity. I might have spent $100 drinking on this cruise, if that much. Tap water in the bathroom sinks was just fine. I had room attendant leave ice in the AM and PM. Tap water in the buffet area was just as good. They will only service the room 1 time a day. You tell them either in the morning, or evening. I can live with that. As long as he leaves the ice!!! Overall, I would and will be doing the exact ship and itinerary. Have it set for January. There is no future cruise desk on this ship. I already had the January cruise booked. Hope that gives you a little insight for the Liberty...at least a recent review.
  13. peaches4, I have no idea. I only walked through the casino when in port and no one was in there.
  14. Never even thought about laundry. $30 a bag?? Wow!!! Not sure what weather will be in May and June in that region. Guess I better study up accordingly. Maybe bring 2 sandwich bags of dry detergent and wash in the cabin. Dry hang in the shower. I will not commit though until January if I want to do this B4B cruises anyways. Other items are on the fire until then.
  15. Georgia_Peaches, no problem with relaxed wear on embarkation. I have been on 3 MSC Cruises in the years. What you show should be just fine in the MDR. Not been in the YC yet, but will in January, so not sure what their requirements are, but am guessing it should not be an issue on embarkation day.
  16. When on a cruise and the amount of points bump you to the next level, Does RCL recognize the higher of the 2 levels on embarkation day?
  17. I am looking at doing the Transatlantic on the Jewel in late April 2023 then do the Fjord in May then 2 more cruises on her. All back to back totally 42 days then fly back to Florida. Have not booked it yet, but they are on my radar for sure.
  18. Was browsing for a repositioning cruise. Came across one leaving late April 2022. 12 nights to Amsterdam from Port Canaveral, FL. Then saw the next 3 cruises Jewel of the Seas is doing over there and thought it would be a good cruise. Norwegian Fjords for 8 nights. Iceland and Scotland for 12 nights, then British Isles for 12. Then fly home. Am looking for a roommate. I can go inside cabin ($4100 range) or as high as balcony rates before I would have to sell bone marrow to afford a suite. Anyone looking for a 42 day cruise to do in the Spring?
  19. Ive got a 4 night YC booked in late January on the Meraviglia out of Port Canaveral. Will be 1st time experiencing Yacht Club. It's only an inside cabin, but I wanted to test the waters per say for a later YC longer Caribbean experience. Don't plan on hanging out in the cabin anyways....:)
  20. I just went on a solo cruise out of Florida a few weeks ago. Booked a 4 night cruise. MSC had 2 nights that I can remember seeing on the schedule of events for singles meet up. It was nothing more than a meet and greet, but it was something.
  21. After you get back, I would like to hear the results..:)
  22. Yes, I had the same issue, When I called about 5 hours after taking the test through the drive thru of all places, I got the standard reply of computer issue with sending them out. About 1 hour later, I got 6 emails from them with my results. This was about 2 weeks ago.
