  1. Hi All,

How is Princess@Sea working these days. Our first experience was on Regal Nov 2016 and it still had a lot of bugs to work out.

It worked well for us last week on Caribbean Princess. I didn't think it was clunky at all. The only thing that was a bit annoying is that you don't get a notification of an incoming text. You have to look at the app to see that a message is waiting.

  2. Princess used to have a 9-day itinerary out of NYC to the Caribbean that included a stop in Bermuda. We did two of those cruises and had to miss Bermuda on one of the them because of high winds. As Pam notes, the approach to King's Wharf is long and tricky and prone to being missed.

  3. The visa and passport notices are fairly standard' date=' but we were required to show our passports any time we entered Canada. This was when we got off the ship in Victoria and when we did an excursion out of Skagway that entered Canada.

The notices say that it is your responsibility to be aware of the requirements for any country you may be entering.[/quote']

hmmm... I've taken the 10-day Alaska cruise out of San Francisco a few times with only a b/c and driver's license and have never been asked for a passport in Victoria. There is also one version of the White's Pass Railway excursion that doesn't require a passport.

And yes, the notices are very standard.

  4. AFAIK, NCL is the only one that has designated studios. I was on the Escape in February and had the opportunity to see one. They are very tiny, but very adequate. Only drawback is they are all inside cabins, so for someone like me who needs a window or a balcony it's not an option.

Cunard has added single cabins to their ships. Some are balconies too...

  5. Perhaps Princess are endeavouring to shut down the PES lounge by making drinks, prices and snacks unattractive. Not a lot of incentive to visit there now. I was rather fond of the Chairman of the Board' Mojhito etc. But am generally a cider drinker, e.g. Strongbow/Magners, so same prices apply throughout the ship for those.

Does anybody have the 'new list of $6.50 PES lounge drinks?

We were told that the drink specials at the PES lounge are not available anywhere else on the ship and I do believe that is the case.

  6. We are going on Alaskan cruise in June. I've never heard of the Chef's table before but thinking it might be a fun thing to do for my husband's birthday. What do you do and what night is it normally? Cost? Thanks!!

My son and I did the Chef's Table last year on Island Princess during our 19-day Panama Canal cruise. The cost is $95/pp (less if you don't drink wine). It was fabulous. Our head chef was German, so there were some interesting dishes. I'd highly recommend it. Make sure that you sign up when you board by calling the DINE line.

  7. I sure as nukessailor said, they must be travel agents completing their coomodore course.

    long cruiser

FYI, Travel agents who are Commodores get Elite status every time they sail as long as their agency is actively selling Princess cruises.

  8. More pictures here of the family suite on Sapphire and diamond,it will be almost identical on all other ships that have them (grand class and derivatives)

The floorplan is wrong on the Sapphire's inside cabin portion of the Family Suite. I think this is true of all the older Grand-class ships. Here's a photo that I took of the cabin.

  9. I would be very disappointed in Princess if they eliminated happy hour fleet wide. That's something my wife and I enjoyed in the afternoon from 3 to 4 PM. I know many of us from our roll call for the March 10th cruise on the Ruby Princess are hoping it's not true.

    Cheers - Ken & Darlene

The Happy Hour was gone last week on Ruby on our 5-day cruise to Cabo...

  10. I was on the Emerald 4 yrs. ago and at that time they did not have a Lotus Spa on the ship. My question is I notice on the map that they have both womens and mens saunas and steam rooms in the locker areas and a Thermal suite one dock lower. Are the steam and sauna a no charge and is the thermal suite a charge area. I have been on the Royal a few yeas ago and that area was called the " The Lotus Spa" which was a charge area ! Help me refresh my memory ! Bob

Hmmmm... Emerald has always had a Lotus Spa. That being said, the Thermal Suite is the pay venue, the saunas and steam rooms are free as is the Lotus Spa pool.

  11. is they a place to book shore excursions on the ship without going to the shore excursion desk? can you book tours using the tv in your cabin, an app on your device?

Yes, you can use Princess@Sea on your smart device to book excursions. We were on the Island Princess for the 19-day Panama Canal cruise from LA right after the major earthquake in Mexico. Puerto Chiapas was dropped because of quake damage and Puerto Vallarta added. We were able to book an excursion with my iPad. No problem.

  12. This keeps people from booking lots of popular excursions and then canceling them. You can still cancel later, but have to pay to reserve them. I like this change!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I don't think this is why they changed it. I think they are doing what they can do to get as much money upfront and because other lines do it.

I think both reasons are valid and is basically a win-win for the line.

  13. I have two reservations (1 wife and me, 1 son-in-law and daughter-in-law; booked through travel agent). I went to the personalize to enter information for the in-laws. They have their own account. However, the account doesn't show any upcoming cruises. The only way I can check them in is to use the name and birthday of the son-in-law plus the cruise confirmation number.

I called Princess. They say they cannot show the cruise under the son-in-law's account.

I would surmise that the in-laws booking were given new Captain Circle numbers. They'll have to call Princess and have them put the proper numbers on the booking.

  14. Hmmmm... thanks for the review.

We enjoyed SHARE immensely on our last cruise on Emerald Princess. I have to say that it was the best specialty restaurant experience we've ever had on Princess. The food and service was terrific. If they had live music, it'd be perfection.

I think you ordered the wrong things at the Salty Dog. My recommendations are the crab cakes and the Ernesto burger. Both are excellent. I also had the coffee and doughnuts the last time I was there and they were great. The coffee is actually a espresso mousse.. very good. We're looking forward to going again on Ruby Princess next month.

And the only ships with upper berths recessed in the ceiling in interior cabins are Coral and Island Princess. All other ships in all interior (and oceanview) cabins the uppers fold against' date=' and protrude from, the side walls.[/quote']

    FYI... this is wrong.

All Princess ships have some interiors with the bunks in the ceiling and some on the wall (Coral, Island, Sapphire, Diamond are the exceptions... all in the ceiling). I am sailing on Ruby Princess next month and have an interior quad. The bunks are in the ceiling. Any travel agent with access to OneSource (or a Princess call center rep) can find a document for each ship that details which cabins have the bunks in the ceiling or bolted to the wall.
