  1. I have read about that "secret door" before but I am puzzled. Where and what is it> We have already done the Panama Canal on the Island and just got up early and went upper decks to the front of the ship. This time we will be on the Coral in Feb. Appreciate any secret door advice. Thanks

Just go forward on Baja or Caribe deck, pass through the double doors at the end of the corridor and you'll be outside overlooking the bow.

If they do bump up prices they will have to honor the folks who already have the AIBP that only listed drinks up to $10. It's too bad. One of the good things about Princess was drinks that were more affordable than most lines.

Edit: I just checked all of my booked cruises - including in 2019 - and I don't see any changes at all in the listing. Same price and same drink price limit. What people are posting here looks a lot like the Australian AIBP verbiage.

Yes, the above image is for the Australian AIBP.

  3. I'm really confused about upgrades and changing your cabin. If there is another one in the category you booked available can you request to be moved? There are still cabins available on our Oct cruise.so I contacted my TA to see if he would change our cabin and he said because when we booked it was a special and because of this he really couldn't change our cabin. Last night I needed to have an issue with our EZAir resolved, so when it was done I explained my situation to the Princess rep and she said my TA would have to change our cabin. By the way, we do have that we would expect an upgrade..Do you think my TA is giving me a run around

In general, you should be able to move to another cabin in the same category regardless of the promo. As long as the category remains the same, no money will change hands and the promo should remain as is. As noted, if you booked through a TA, they'll have to do it.

  4. There are not too many lounges on the Pacific Princess, so they have to move the party around each evening.

The Pacific Lounge is on deck 10 forward, with forward views overlooking the bow. It's a pleasant area with comfortable seating. I'll be there in a few weeks, and hope that's where the elite lounge will be held, as it has been on my past cruises on the Pacific.

The Pacific Lounge was where the Elite/Platinum Lounge was located every night on our holiday cruise last year on Pacific Princess.

  5. Becky .

That is a nasty comment. That is the main reason I'm finding that CC isn't worth seeing or going to.

I've done 23 cruise with Princess and 6 in obstructed cabins on the Island and Coral. All the ones I've been in

are ether partially or fully obstructed bt equipment.

It's true, I found a site with pictures of pretty much every obstructed room view and they were really bad on the island. But from looking at exterior ship photo's these 2 particular rooms don't appear to have any equipment in front of them. They are encased though on both sides by ship exterior.

The cabins in question seem to have windows facing port or starboard. There is NO equipment in front of those windows, although there does seem to be a beam. OP, I'm not sure what kind of view you'll have, but you will have sunlight. See the image:

  6. So agree regarding the level of "give" and "take" in all the Princess casinos in the last year or so. They for sure are not "giving" much back at all. And because of that' date=' the casinos have been less and less crowded. Noticed this through out the fleet lately.[/size']

Dunno... we were on Pacific Princess in December for the holiday cruise and I made some money at the slots and a good bit at the blackjack table. :)

  7. Enjoy your cruise. We were aboard for the 14-day holiday cruise before the World Cruise. I really, really enjoyed the cruise. As everyone has said before, the ship is easy to get around. We spent a lot of time on the Promenade, the outside area of the buffet and the Pacific Lounge. Pre-dinner drinks at the Club Bar were also a must. Definitely be prepared for more movement. You'll get your exercise walking uphill/downhill a lot as the ship pitches. :)

  8. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I do believe I need this room. Ideally, my family of 4 would stay in one cabin, especially because it's a 14 day cruise. However, I've read, & our TA confirmed, that when the room is set up for 3 or 4 people, it prevents wheelchair access for the rest of the cabin. I cannot stand or walk at all. So, as a mom & someone paying a lot of money for the stateroom & premium balcony, I want to access the entire cabin & balcony at all times, including when beds are set up. So, to make sure my kids and I are as safe, comfortable & independent as possible, we've decided to book 2 rooms beside each other. My husband & one child in one room & myself and our other child in the accessible room. It's not ideal, but it'll work & I'm sure it'll be an amazing vacation!

We stayed in C302 a few years back. Here's a photo of the cabin with the bunks down. You can see there is plenty of room to maneuver with a wheelchair.

  9. We have only dealt with the terminal in San Pedro twice. The first time we had to wait an extremely long time to board and people were still boarding at 4:00 PM when the ship was supposed to sail. Muster was delayed, etc.

The second time we were sailing SF to FLL through the Panama Canal and the ship stopped in San Pedro to pick up more passengers. A few people managed to get ashore early but most of the other passengers who had plans to meet folks for lunch, etc. never made it off the ship. They waited hours but didn't make it off. Those who had gotten off early ended up waiting hours to get back on the ship.

Is this the norm? I'm trying to book a flight out of LAX in October and the only one that seems to work for us is at 12:05 PM. I'm wondering if this is an unrealistic flight time given what we have encountered at the port the last two time. The ship is supposed to dock at 7:00 AM. That "seems" like plenty of time even given LA traffic (the flight will be on a Sunday so hopefully a bit less traffic) but I'm concerned about hangups at the port. We will likely use Super Shuttle or Uber for transportation from the port to LAX and it looks like the Delta terminal is where we need to go.

I know that many of you cruise frequently and must make this trip from the ship to LAX so I'm hoping for good info from you.

Definitely not the norm. I've been able to walk off the ship early and be at work by 10am... :)
