AFAIK not US only but came automatically with the room - I bet there were lots of cruisers who didn't even know they had the perks until they got into the room and found the info :classic_wink:

Maybe you haven't been informed of the change because your room hasn't been assigned yet? I can see them assigning your room one minute then informing you the perk is being discontinued in the next LOL.

Program began in November 2016, too bad they are discontinuing it:

The new EAT • DRINK • PLAY complimentary amenities offer guests in Central Park balcony staterooms

    • Complimentary lunch for two at Giovanni's Table.
    • Complimentary bottle of red wine in your stateroom.
    • Private casino gaming lessons from an onboard expert.

The new EAT • DRINK • PLAY complimentary amenities offer guests in Boardwalk balcony staterooms

    • Complimentary meal for four at Johnny Rockets.
    • Complimentary Royal Refreshment soda package for two guests.
    • Exclusive rock climbing wall experience for the entire family.

    Thanks for the info.

  2. We were on the Indy in Oct. and had the 8 top that is located right where you were standing when the picture was taken. First thing we do when boarding is head off to MDR to find our table and make a change if we don't like the location. Table location and numbers can change on every cruise. You did not say if you had MDR or MTD. We had late seating and a perfect view of the dining room below that is for MTD. At 8:30 when we sat down the MTD area was almost empty, a table for 2 in a sparsely populated area should be easy to find a a later dining time. Someone will soon chime in and give you the email address for dining requests. happy cruising, the Indy was a great cruise and that was before all the dry dock upgrades.

    Hi. Thanks for the reply.

The picture is the dining room on deck 4. Just behind the 5 top in the picture, on the other side of the railing is a 2 top ... we've had that 2 top before (but on the other side of the dining room) and it is a great 2 top for what my friends want ... a bit of room around it and not too close to the adjacent tables ... but yes as you say table numbers and locations can change.

I have the email addresses for requests but was hoping someone out there will be able to provide some info on where the best 2 tops are now after the refurb so that I can give my friends a heads up for when they email a request in.

Oh and thanks for pointing out that I failed to say what time dining my friends have ... I guess that would be useful ... they have the late traditional dining sitting booked.

Thanks again in advance for any further advice/updates.

If anyone can spot a nice table for 2 in a not so crowded location could you please let me know the location and table number.

Not so crowded location --- ie not squashed in among tables or not where the nearest table is so close it may as well be attached.

I've heard that since Indy was amplified and now has more people on board than ever they have added tables in the dining room to accommodate the additional diners.

I have tried to help the people asking as I have sailed on Indy a couple of times but not since the refurb so my info may be out of date.

I've attached a pic of the kind of thing the folks are looking for ... see the table for 2 that isn't swamped?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Uber would be your cheapest option by far. You just need to make sure you have cellular data service on your phone. It may be such a savings to use Uber that paying for some data or upgrading your plan for the month to cover data in the US might be well worth it.

Thanks. Will def look into that.

  5. Uber or Lyft will require a smart phone with data, and you request the ride when you clear customs/immigration - typical wait times at PE are about 5+ minutes. The fare to your hotel or MIA airport should be $35-40+tip, which is about 1/2 of what Go Airport quoted you. Even just grabbing the first taxi in line should only run about $75+tip.

There is a hotel inside the MIA airport - cleverly called the Miami Airport hotel  - that offers day rate rooms. I'm sure some of the surrounding hotels will also offer day rates - call around or search www.between9and5.com and other day rate sites.

Another option I would not recommend (time and hassle) is to taxi to the closest Tri-Rail station (probably the FLL station) for about $15+ and then ride the train to MIA for under $5 each.

Good luck with your planning. :)

Thanks again for the great advice/tips.

  6. SAS, QLS and other popular shared shuttles usually do not service the MIA airport and nearby hotels - either because of a business decision or licensing issues.

A taxi - including minivan and SUV taxis good for 4-5 plus bags - will run about $75+ depending upon where your hotel is located. For 2-3 plus normal bags (meaning no one packs like my wife :( ) UberX or standard Lyft car share will run about $35-40. Depending upon day of the week and traffic the ride takes about 45-60+ min.

Go Airport can offer both shared shuttle and private transfers if you have a big group and prefer to book ahead. I would also reach out to Larry's Limos for a private transfer quote. My last choice, but an option to consider, is the cruise line transfer bus to MIA and then the hotel shuttle from MIA to your hotel.

If any of this helps you owe me a pint - whatever bitter your local pours will be fine! ;)

    Ha ha ... thanks.

We’ve used the cruise line’s (Royal Caribbean) transfer bus to Mia on a few occasions and it’s always been a total shambles and long lines. That’s why we are looking at other options ... we would only have a day use room at a hotel before an evening flight.

I did look on SAS’s website and the info on there does seem to suggest they can’t help.

Can you book Uber or Lyft in advance or is just a case of looking on the app when we arrive at PE?

According to their website ‘Go’ can do it for $86 but I don’t know if that is good or not?

    Thanks again for the help.

  7. Hi folks.

I am looking for recommendations or tips for a post cruise transfer from Port Everglades to MIA (well a hotel near there to be precise).

I’m in the UK if that matters. I’d need to be able to book from here.

So far I’ve discovered ‘Go’ and ‘SAS’ seem popular.

Thanks in advance for your help/advice.

  8. This topic gets covered fairly regularly on the Florida Departures board. You may want to take a peek there: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=495

With that said, there are numerous shared shuttle companines, Uber and private car services. For private service, I have used and have been happy with Larry's Limos. Have used them several times for trips between FLL and MIA and vice versa. http://www.larryslimo.com/index.html

    Dan.

Thanks. I’ll take a look over there.
