  1. I'm confused.

Currently looking at an Empress Sailing, and looking at Oceanview Staterooms.

For the Tampa - Havana - Cozumel cruise which side of ship do you guys think is best or will it not matter.

Also category 'SO' is being described as Superior Ocean View yet on the deck plan it is Small Ocean View. Info for the room does show the size as being the smallest.

Should I go for regular Oceanview and what category do you suggest?

    Thanks.

  2. My partner and I sailed on Vision last April. Our first time on this class of ship.

When we booked we were concerned about this being the oldest and smallest RC ship we'd sailed on.

I honestly can tell you we need not have worried.

We loved the ship, the crew ... everything. Yes its smaller but not tiny and we never felt cramped. We both commented on it being the best dining room experience we've had so far, in terms of service from the waiters. Everyone has different standards for food. We left happy every night.

There are no ice shows or aqua shows but I'm sure you can cope without them. Entertainment was good, although the RC singers were not the best we've seen. Think someone strangling a cat and you're nearly there :(

We had Captain Marek. Really nice guy. An amazing and approachable Captain!

Don't stress about it. I'm sure you'll have a fab time.

  3. Hi.

Sailed on the IOS TA sailing last month.

We called at St Maarten, St Thomas, St Kitts, San Juan and Labadee.

I don't usually suffer from bites BUT I got bitten once in St Kitts and twice in San Juan. Labadee was our last call .. I didn't get bitten but I was swimming in repellent.

I would take/use some just in case. If you're anything like me bites will drive you crazy. Hate them.

  4. The only clues so far are that Empress will do a 4 night sailing on the 25th of May and will then do a 5 night sailing on the 29th of May.

After that the ship appears to vary itinerary and may offer B2B possibilities throughout the summer and early fall.

The ship still appears to be heading back to Miami for November departures, but that is always subject to change.

    Thank you.

It is actually November time I am looking at, so interesting you mention she may head back to Miami.

I will watch out for updates.

    Thanks again.

  5. We never received our guest satisfaction survey email after our last cruise on Vision in April.

Is there any way to chase this up or to pass on praise??

We had, what we considered to be, the best dining room service we have ever had. Both our waiter and his assistant waiter were amazing. They kept telling us to fill in the survey and we promised we would, but it never came.

They haven't done away with it have they?? We normally get it and they have our current email addresses.

    Thanks.

  6. As much as I'd like an Oasis or Quantum class ship in the UK, I'm more than happy to have Independence.

Oasis class ships just don't work in the UK/Europe. Too much of the ship is open to bad weather. I sailed on the Oasis westbound TA a few years ago. The weather didn't play nice. The boardwalk and aqua theatre were like death traps ... dangerously slippy. Aqua shows were cancelled most nights and the ones that did take place had the audience sat in the rain. Central Park isn't a nice spot to sit if it's pouring down.

I think probably the better option is a Quantum Class ship but not at the laughable prices they were charging.

  7. Can you get it on Royal Caribbean ships?

I know not everyone will have heard of this drink, its huge in my home town here in the UK (Newcastle), and I know that it did make its way to the US.

The reason I ask is ... on a recent vision of the seas sailing I swear I saw a bottle on the shelf behind the bar. I was gonna ask the bar staff but they were mega busy and I never got the chance, then I forget.

It's been bugging me ever since I got home.

  8. We went here in cozumel ... http://www.paradise-beach-cozumel.com/ ... and totally recommend it if you just want to chill out at a nice beach/pool.

We choose it because we're not huge drinkers so didn't need a fill yer boots all inclusive place.

It's $3 entry fee, $18 if you want to use the beach inflatables/slides etc. Pay as you go food and drinks.

The whole complex was spotless clean. The price we paid for the food and drinks we had was in our opinion fair.

  9. Scheduled to be released today. I called earlier and the rep stated sometime later today, just keep checking!

    To go on sale today??

C and A were supposed to get 24 advance bookings on the Alaska sailings that were released last week but it never happened. It just opened up to everyone.

Thanks. I seem to recall the same thing happened with Oasis' TA a few years ago.

  10. I've only ever done one GTY reservation.

It was for a TA sailing and we were allocated a room on the non sunny side of the ship.

I called RC and was told that it couldn't be changed without paying the difference in cruise fare.

So I chanced my luck and emailed the Crown and Anchor team, asked real nice for a room in the same category that had been issued from GTY but on the sunny side and my request was met.

From what I have read on here, on this and other posts on the subject, I'm gonna guess that I was just lucky and got a nice RC agent.
