  1. I had not heard that. The latest thing I read was that everything donated or lent by the golfers would be returned to them. I haven’t been in half a dozen years, but back when I was there we had putting contests and a golf simulator, and revolving special exhibits like Ben Hogan’s life. I went to a driving range once, on a first date. I never heard from him again. I’m just about as good putting. But I love to watch…loved my 18 years of leaderboard, scorer, and marshal.
  2. I remember Montauk Point being about the farthest you could drive and still make it home by bedtime. back then, the closer you got the more sand dunes and open spaces. I can’t imagine what it would be like now.
  3. You should have driven through SC in the 40’s and 50’s. It was like the 20th century didn’t exist between the state lines. The roads have vastly improved since then!
  4. Bob, have you been to the World Golf Hall of Fame off 95 just north of St Augustine? It is going to move to Pinehurst, but in a much reduced form. The Hall of Fame is full of the history of the game (that where I mostly volunteered for 5 years), it has a locker room full of mementos lent by the pros, and so much more. Worth a trip while it’s still there.
  5. You’ve given me and probably everyone else such joy by sharing your story! Sometimes in this sad old world, something really wonderful happens! ❤️❤️❤️
  6. I can’t imagine chocolate gravy. And I’ve lived in the South all my life and never heard of it. it might be a Midwestern thing.
  7. @dani negreanu Dani, I am so sorry that you have to worry about your country. Even through the Cold War, assassination of our President and 9/11, I never had to worry about the future of my country. Times have changed. I guess for all of us around the world. It is frightening to see the government’s pendulum swing radically in one direction. With no way to know if it will ever moderate. Hang in there. Your little country has been David against Goliath many times. Different scenario this time, but just keep on keeping on, and things will even out. We have to believe that. I hope DH is continuing to improve and put that pain behind him.
  8. Our daughter had a Wolf steamer oven built into the island when they designed their kitchen. I don’t know why it’s great, but she said they use it constantly. Their only microwave is in a box in the garage for when we house sit. She said the steamer oven is well worth the money.
  9. I’m way behind reading this, but it hit me really hard. ALS is a most frightening diagnosis, and I’m praying the results come back negative. if it’s a positive result, I know you will live your best life through it. The current issue of People, with Brooke Shields on the front, has a long article about a gentleman who has survived long past the time he was given. Still getting so much out of life. Still productive. Still living and being loved. I wish I could give you a hug. I can only say I’ll hope and pray for you. Mimi
  10. We didn’t know about Featherdale, or I would have been there. Your birds are a feast for the eyes! I was fascinated by Australia’s animals, but plumb gobsmacked by the birds! I’ve been ill with pneumonia and off the internet. Trying to catch up a little today.
  11. Your birds and flowers are incredible. I remember thinking when I was there that Australia must have really been the Garden of Eden.
  12. Pillow under the covers aboard ship to elevate your feet. Don’t wait till you get home. I’m a side sleeper, so there’s a soft pillow between my knees and a firmer one under my feet and ankles. it really helps!
  13. I didn’t think it was long. Enjoyed reading it and really really wished I could have been part of it!
  14. What a wonderful cruise this was. I almost felt like I was there, meeting everyone I have felt connected to all this time. I couldn’t have made much of a dent on the drink lists, but I would have enjoyed trying. John is a host for the ages. He absolutely killed it with the Bella door signs, ornaments, and Limoncello! I wish you all a safe, uneventful trip home, and a quick recovery from any lingering issues.
  15. @dani negreanu I finally caught up and want to wish you a happy birthday that you can use belatedly this year, or save for a cloudy day. I’m looking forward to your sharing your Morocco trip like we vicariously enjoyed Dubai! Mazel Tov!
  16. I Googled it. Is it now on my permanent record??? It’s one of those “Where’s the bleach for my brain” situations.
