2013 List: Out of Service, Charters and Groups

Hot off the presses... I have just received the 2013 spreadsheet which lists all ports and plans for HAL ships.

I'm sure this isn't the "everything," and I'll appreciate people who continue to add information from personal knowledge and research. This list doesn't look nearly as scary as 2012 did.

The list is below... twice. 1) in alphabetical order by ship name to search for your particular ship, and 2) in date order by sailing date/start date to search for your vacation schedule.

This list is so helpful. Thanks so much for sharing whatever charter/group information you find. It provides us the ability to 'knowingly' choose a cruise that has a large group rather than boarding to find what some might call an unhappy surprise.

Thanks very much for posting the list. Noordam is listed as going for drydock from 8 to 17 Feb 2013. I checked the HAL website & Noordam still registers a sailing from 8 Feb to 1 Mar from FLF to FLF. Also, one week ago, when I called HAL about my cruise cancelled by HAL, the lady said that it’s because Noordam is going into drydock 8 to 20 April. I’m keeping an eye on Noordam because they’ve put me on an alternative cruise sailing 21 April. Any other info would be most appreciated. Thanks.

Deleted. Thought Oosterdam was scheduled for drydock in 2013 but just saw she is going in Dec 2012.

But I don't think the customers are paying for those charters. The charters cost way more for a cabin than what we ordinary people pay -- it's the people who go on the charters that are paying for their cabins.

If you kick the company which happens to choose a visible way of doing it, and send your business instead to companies which do exactly the same thing at the same cost, but in lower-profile ways, then you're really only cutting off your nose to spite your face.

IIRC it is State Farm's way of showing appreciation to their agents so the company is footing the bill for the majority of costs. So in a way the consumers are paying for the charter.

Looking at the changes due to this rescheduled drydock your new cruise is a 15 day Civitavecchia to Piraeus (Athens, Greece) it starts the day after she comes out of the ship yard in Palermo, Sicily. The change and extension of the drydock may indicate some bigger works than a normal drydock (Just speculating!)

You've failed to mention the Rock and Worship Cruise, 1/13/13, aboard the Amsterdam. 40,000 showed up for a concert last week at Anehiem Stadium. MercyMe and Christian Rapper, Lecrae will rock the boat for Christ!

That is the Nieuw Amsterdam not the Amsterdam.

It is another group on a standard cruise and not a charter. These are very annoying as HAL do not let passengers know there will be a large group on the cruise

Indeed, these huge groups are VERY annoying. On our first cruise a large group of St. Louis Cardinals fans was on board. They had the entire aft pool area on the Westerdam for their "exclusive use" on one of the two sea days, had the Queens Lounge to themselves the entire cruise and took up 3/4 of the upper MDR while their idea of "Formal Wear" was jeans, baseball jerseys and baseball caps.

It would have been bad enough had DW and I not been baseball fans...It was even even worse that year as the Cardinals had eliminated our Phillies from the playoffs!

The pre booking for the blues cruise starts about a year or so in advance.

While the October cruises don't sell out lightening fast like the January cruises, I would imagine that it would be well on its way.

I would assume the dry dock for the Maasdam may happen at another date.
