OMG!!!!!! Just looking at the picture is making me ill!! would have flipped out!

I guess we are lucky so far because the last 4 out of my 7 cruises with RCCL have been in late August, prime hurricane season. KNOCK WOOD, so far so good!!! Out ran a couple of them, spent an extra day at sea, but nothing like that!! EEKK!

and another good video - wait till it gets close to a minute and a half in - looks just like the photo above!

(just go to youtube and search for cruise ship rough seas)

The Irish Sea was the absolutely roughest ride I've EVER been on - the maiden crossing of the NCL Sun. I was in an inside cabin, totally pitch dark when the alarm clock went off. I was so disoriented from the rolling and pitching I literally didn't know which end was up.

Second worse is when Capt Hakan decided to go through a hurricane band on Grandeur in 2004.

Hurricane Dean Ship Photo

This came from the web address below. There is a lot of Google Earth on it.

This photo was emailed to our tips address. It’s showing the aptly named tanker M/V Wave Ruler battling Hurricane Dean during a voyage to deliver aid to the Cayman Islands.

..and ain't you glad he quit RCI Dec 2006! I sailed with him in Feb 2006 and to this day it is my least favorite cruise.

As a crewmember, I actually did know him on a personal level and didn't mind him as much as other captains I've experienced, but he did have that 'hesitating' way about him.

In that situation that year, any other route would have actually been much worse! We ended up subsituting a port with Charleston, so a least a good seafood dinner made up for the ride!

Here is a link that has that photo, looks real to me.

Just because it was submitted to a website doesn't make it a real picture, no offense. ;)

This photo is well known on the Net for being forged, but it looks realistic, hey? I've included a link to a review for that cruise, Carnival Triumph September 18, 2003. No mention is made of this "event".

Anyway, thought I'd mention it. Sorry OP, I don't have any pics, but the Internet is a fabulous resource; I'm sure you'll find something.

I remember a couple of years ago when Hurricane Dennis was around, Captain Johnny said it would use more fuel to turn around the way we did and go around Cuba (I believe) and the Carnival Victory (I'm pretty sure) went THROUGH the storm. Captain Johnny said they had some bad waves.

Yeah, sorry, I meant that kind of tongue in cheek. My sense of humor doesn't always come across in a correct manner. There were some pics of the Sensation during Rita posted that I always assumed were fake, but we met a bartender on the Conquest that was on one of the ships and he said that there were no passengers, just a skeleton crew and he was on there. He said that at one point on the promenade deck, you could look straight down almost the length of the ship. He said it was very scarey.

What looks 50 years old? The water? :D Surely not the super tanker? ;)

She's real alright according to the site? ;) Who's to know?

Here's the link for the story on her I posted under it.

This pic has been on previous posts, and someone said it is not a real picture...some good computer generation and voila!

I tend to agree here...perhaps an Engineer who has designed seagoing vessels can chime in...based on this picture I would expect a fair bit of damage to the various windows around the ship...likely we would have heard about this ship on the news...

No video, and not really a "storm" exactly, but last Fall on Grandeur we hit a lot of high seas and strong headwind heading south from Baltimore.

I couldn't take a picture of the ship from afar (since I was on it!) but my album has a section with lots of views from the ship! Several of the crew said it was the worst weather they had ever sailed in.
