Hey all, I am very close to traveling on the MSC Seaside, and I don't have a good feeling about my sailing 90% of the reviews have been negative and when I went on the MCS website , they have blocked all of there reviews. It is to close to cancel my trip, can anyone out there tell me that the ship is better then the reviews?

It's a brand new ship, and as with all new ships, they have their hiccups.I haven't seen one new ship anywhere that had positive reviews. We were on the Divina in 2015, and loved it, and are booked on the Seaside for next December.

Are you reading the reviews on here? When I sailed the Carnival Vista last year it was brand new and the first reviews were bad. When I sailed the NCL Escape two years ago it was brand new and also got bad reviews the first few cruises. There's only been like 4-5 cruises on the Seaside so far ..... is never sail a new ship the first month or so. Anyone that does or has cruising experience should know this and what to expect otherwise. What is it that is scaring you so much as to want to cancel?

We were on one of the first Oasis sailings.

If I remember correctly, most of the reviews were full of praise, marveling at the ship and explaining how the ship never felt crowded. One thing Royal did, however, was NOT book the ship completely for its first few sailings. That way the crew got used to her.

And she garnered very good to rave reviews.

I've been reading some of the reviews under the "review" section. They really are bad. When reviewer after reviewer complain about cold food, crowds, smells, poor service, running out of cups, sitting on the floor of the buffet, there has to be something wrong. Something MSC can and should correct.

We sailed on Seaside’s 3rd cruise. January 6th. We were already booked for April and October but wanted to get away after the holidays.

The ship is very nice. Cabins are smaller but nicely decorated. Plenty of room for the 2 of us.

Food is subjective. Breakfast in the dining room was very good. Our dining room server and assistant were attentive and remembered our special requests.

We DID get bar service in the MDR. Never a problem getting service at any bar.

Were there flaws ? Yes. But it was a brand new ship. Nothing that was critical enough to dampen the good time.

Only 93 days and we will be back [emoji41]

You also have to remember people love to complain and some are impossible to please!!

Not to mention the complainers come out in full force and people seem way more happy to tell the negative rather than the positive. One of the sad things of social media - way to quick to point out the bad and not the good.

We were on the Xmas sailing as well. Some things were incredible, some had drastic room for improvement. Any cruise will be as good or bad as you allow it to be. Just go into it with the mindset that you may not have the same level of service as some other cruise lines and you will be fine. We are currently booked for Thanksgiving 2018 and spring break 2019, using what we learned on the Xmas cruise to take it upon ourselves to improve the experience (Aurea whirlpool suites for both instead of fantastica experience). Have a great time, and take all those super negative reviews with a grain of salt. I have a hard time believing people when they say there was nothing edible the entire 7 days etc etc. The more detailed reviews in the forums tend to be more realistic and provide the good and bad to allow you to plan around the bad. A lot of people’s complaints are on very subjective things, and a lot of people have unrealistic expectations (like my FIL who was trying to compare this sailing to Celebrity and saying it was miserable). If you know what you paid for and expect that, you will have a great time!

90% is a bit of an exaggeration but I understand what you are saying. There are plenty of good to excellent reviews. CC has about 40-50 reviews so far? That is out of about 16,000 to 18,000 cruisers so far. People are going to have bad experiences on any cruise line and I have always found those people to be more vocal than the people who enjoyed them. There are plenty of good reviews, you just need to decide those review that you personally line up with the most.

Yep, maybe that's what it is. People that just love to complain are the ones that didn't give it 5 stars. Like me, for example. I gave it 3 stars. You know why? Because I just love to complain. I'm just so impossible to please.

This is why I debated on giving a review, because of people that haven't even been on the ship that is making accusations that those that have been on the ship, but didn't give it 5 stars, are just complainers. It is what it is. I've been on many many ships, and I have nothing to gain or lose by making up BS. The ship is what it is.

If you don't like the reviews that rate the ship anything above 3 stars, then just don't read them. I was on the ship last week, and some of the things that are wrong with Seaside isn't going to be fixed, no matter how long the ship is in operation. The ship is just too small for 5,000+ people. The dining areas are too small, the theater is too small. 3 shows a night, and there's still going to be about 3,000 people that aren't going to see the shows. That's not complaining..... it's facts.

I was just on the ship last week, and here is a positive..... the ship is amazing beautiful. Surely wouldn't want to upset anyone by pointing out the negatives. Plus, that would just make me a complainer.

I am booked on the Seaside in June. I will probably keep my booking but I'm a little worried. But, I think this idea that all new ships receive this many negative reviews is simply not true. When RCI released the Oasis and Allure they both got rave reviews and this was a totally new concept. Harmony reviews were not as good initially but not as bad as what we're reading on the Seaside. The same with Carnival. The Breeze release was well received. The Vista release was not and this was due to some of the choices Carnival made. The point is that a cruise line can get it right on the initial sailings and when they don't sometimes it's due to the choices that they make. Some things can be fixed. Other things (like overcrowding) can't. It's very easy to just blame the reviewers. Some had a great cruise but I don't weigh those more than the many people who didn't.

I'm still hoping for a great cruise.

If you keep an open-mind, like my husband and I did you should be fine, as long as you know ahead of time what to expect. We seen all the negative reviews right before we got on the ship, and trust me, they were mostly true, however, if you're in the YC, you should be okay, or if you don't plan on eating many meals in the buffet, you should be okay. Just remember to get to the shows about 15 minutes before they begin. If you plan on going to the buffet for lunch or dinner, you might have some problems. Also, if you need to go to the receptionist desk, you might want to do that either late at night, or early in the morning. The atrium area becomes quite loud in the middle of the day. Most lounges are empty during the day, so we didn't understand why the loud mini shows that were in the atrium, weren't performed in the lounge areas. I surely didn't feel like I was heading to the Caribbean while on this ship.

Some excellent points... I booked the Vista very late and read all the negative comments.... But I have cruised 20+ times and know what to expect and I know the Carnival product. Results....2nd best Carnival cruise out of 13 Carnival cruises. My positive review/comments get drowned by the negatives because people LIKE to complain.... I think these negative reviews/feedback impacts newbie cruisers...more than the experienced cruisers. However, some feedback , as Lovelights, pointed out such as size of Theatre, Dining room, crowd flow.... does have merit as these are things that cannot be fixed and passengers will be impacted in some way. So everyone should read and digest feedback accordingly

Stop listening to all the negative reviews. GO and enjoy. There is so much to enjoy that is so unique to MSC that the negatives should pale in comparison.

They have the most wonderful entertainment. They have the most live music all over their ships. Their ships are beyond beautiful. They have a great health record with being ULTRA CLEAN. They have staff that interact with you. They have a ship full of many nationalities so it is a cultural feast! Nothing shuts down early...there is always so much dancing on an MSC ship.

GO and enjoy.

We are not huge show type people. However I did play Bingo one day in the Theatre and it felt like all the other ships I've been on. I couldd bring up negatives or dislikes of the Breeze....which was our favorite cruise. But they did not impact our cruise. Its obvious the Theatre setting and seating is important to you...it wasn't to us....so thats why I said in my earlier post I know the product and what to expect. Theatre not important to us. Now if you told me the casino was 30% smaller... I'd pile right on with the complainers...lol

I agree. But people complain about the theater on seaside have prob not been on the vista... We have loved all of our cruises. The last 5 will be on msc. A value that can't currently be beat.

Take the reviews lightly just go and form your own opinion.

I didn't think the theater mattered that much either, until I sailed on the Vista. Worst theater I have been in. But it's a pretty low bar if we are saying at least the Seaside's theater is better than the Vista. Now, I'm with you on the casino, so I will complain that some genius at MSC decided not to add a craps table in a casino.
