Star Refurb---This just in

I just heard from my friend at Princess that they are canceling a very large part of the revitalization project on the Star Princess. The big swap of the Casino and the Steak house along with the new suites has been cancelled due to immigration issues with the laborers. The big screen and other amenity upgrades will continue. My friend says that this shouldn't effect the passengers so not to worry. It's just a major mulit-million dollar problem for them to sort out.

That would be great! I will be anxious to hear more since I love the International Cafe on the Crown and was hoping to enjoy the same on the Star next year ;)

Thanks for sharing the info. Sounds as if another set back may be taking place. I wonder if they plan another round of shorter cruises to take the place of all the time it was supposed to be in dry dock for the refurbs and interior changes?

Maybe they should start hiring from within the US if immigration is that much of a problem??? :cool:

Hope it's not like when they were supposed to do the dry dock of the CB in May. I was mighty disappointed not to have my International Cafe & of course the wine bar. We were on the lst cruise after the supposed dry dock, but we still had a great cruise anyway. Next month we are on the Emerald so I will have some of that great chicken salad.

I have also received these for several years, but they still sometimes startle me.

The word "Emergency" in the email subject line is totally overkill.

"Important Notification" would be sufficent.

Personally I'm glad that the extra suites won't be going in. More passengers for less public areas, no thanks.

I don't sail the Star until next April but my parents will be on her in October so I expect to get a full report. I'll send my dad around to check everything out.

I hope they do go forward with the International Cafe. Sounds like

a good call about the suites. Perhaps feedback has been poor regarding

the unbalconied suites.

Sure hope they are able to do the interior changes. Tequila's/Sterlings just doesn't function well on this ship, and I was really looking forward to the International Cafe in January.

Aww. I'm really dissapointed. I'm going on Star next March and I was looking forward to going on a ship that had been "freshened up". :mad:

I also hope that the International Cafe will at least be put in. The rest of the stuff I truly do not care but the Cafe I was really looking forward to. I will be on the Star next month so hopefully the people that are doing these next few final cruises to alaska can find out info.

speaking of shorter cruises, was looking at that 4 day rt Yvr on the SA
