Port of Los Angeles - Sapphire Princess

We are sailing out of Los Angeles at 4:00 pm on October 10 on the Sapphire Princess. Have never sailed out of LA before.

Boarding pass says check-in is between 1 pm and 3 pm. We usually board much earlier than that and are usually sitting in the main dining room at approx 12:30. Is that doable in LA or do they really hold you to the 1 pm time?

That should be doable. We've sailed out of San Pedro (LA) many times and can't recall actually waiting until 1PM to begin. We usually get to the port around 10:30, check-in around 11 or 11:30 and are usually on board by noon.

Have a great cruise - we love the Sapphire!!

Boarding should start on or around noon. We did this cruise this past March and we were on the ship by 11:45 a.m. Enjoy your cruise!

Yep, our last cruise out of San Pedro, although a while ago, our shuttle took us from the hotel at about 5 minutes after 11:00, we went in and pretty much walked right onto the ship! We were in our room by 11:35! It was great, we were also starving, since we had woken up very early that morning and skipped breakfast, by the time we got to the buffet, there was literally only 20 other people in there, it was great! We relaxed, ate and got to explore the ship before everyone else arrived!:D

Check-in starts at about 11am; boarding can begin anywhere from 11:30am - Noon, depending on the sailing and how late the disembarking passengers are on the ship. One reason why Princess says check-in is between 1 - 3pm is that you avoid the lines if you arrive then; if you're earlier, there can be long lines. Your choice.
