Fatherdav Posted January 3, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2005 My wife wants to do the sunrise bicycle ride down from the summit on Maui. If you've done it, which bike company did you use? And since it's not one of the ship's excursions, how did you get to the bike company?
pieshops Posted January 3, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2005 I gave this as a gift for my sister on her wedding as they went there on their honeymoon. This is who i booked through. http://www.mauimountaincruisers.com/ They loved it, they did the sunrise ride and said it was awesome. They pick you up very early, i think they got picked up around 2:00 am Also you can do a google search and enter words such as maui, mountain, bike, volcano, etc and they will give you many more companies to choose from good luck
Rare xpcdoojk Posted January 3, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2005 My wife wants to do the sunrise bicycle ride down from the summit on Maui. If you've done it, which bike company did you use? And since it's not one of the ship's excursions, how did you get to the bike company? We did this excursion in 2001 and it happened to coincide with the Orionids meteor shower, which was spectacular. We booked it with tom's barefoot hawaii, which is a discount excursion provider/reseller, and they sell almost all Hawaiian excursions. There is about a dozen companies that offer this excursion. Remember it is very cold and to do the sunrise you probably won't sleep much the night you overnight in Maui. It was a highlight of our trip, but I wouldn't do it again, or at least not anytime soon. We tendered over at 2am and they transported us to the their shop and then to the volcano and back to the shop after they fed us breakfast at a local restaurant. jc

Rare xpcdoojk Posted January 3, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2005 Thank You! Very helpfull. I didn't know it was that early in the morning to get started. Oh well will have to pry myself away from the casino. :) O no sleep at all, you are da man! We just did the Old Lahaina Luau so from 5 to 10 we were eating watching beautiful hula girls and drinking endless cocktails. I probably slept for 2 hours, and another hour in the van up the mountain in the dark. Too cold to sleep on top! The sunrise is average, but if you like to look at the stars it is simply fantastic! It is a great experience, but do it while you are still young!;) jc
