Monarch Drinking Water

OK - just heard from my panicky wife that you CAN'T drinl the water on board. I thought it was silly, but its our first, and (frankly) its tough to do a search here with my blackberry.

 

So, is TAP water safe to drink?

I was on the same ship on August 25-28, 2009 filled my water bottle from the room sink every day and am still here living and breathing....no problems!!

 

Tell her not to stress. She will have a wonderful time!

I haven't been on the Monarch in particular, but on all my cruises I have drunk plenty of the ship's water, both at meals and whilst out and about. I tended, however, to fill my water bottle at the Windjammer (buffet restaurant) rather than the tap in my room. You're not supposed to fill water bottles directly from the water machines in the WJ for sanitary reasons; I take a few glasses of water and pour them into my bottle (which has a wide mouth, making this quite easy).

Believe me, the water they serve in the dining room is the ship's tap water. They're not serving bottled water in there unless you pay for it! ;)

The water is fine...after all, the ice, coffee, tea, food, is made with the tap water!

I've been on Monarch twice this year and the water is absolutely FINE. Tell her she can spend her bottled water $$$ on something a lot more fun ;)

The water on all RCCL ships is ocean water. :eek: However that ocean water is desalinated, and is more pure than most bottled water you can buy!:eek::eek:

RCCL would LOVE to sell your wife all of the bottled water she would care to drink, but the tap water is extremely purified and potable.

We sailed Monarch this past April and had no issues with the tap water. I sometimes have issues with salt and swelling but had no issues drinking the ship's water. What exactly are your wife's concerns?

As others have said, the tap water on Monarch is fine! Personally, I love drinking the lemon or cucumber water out of the spa area!

I am beginning to think that some real old timer told her about a river cruise in Mexico in the 70s. Something about signs everywhere saying don't drink the tap water. Anyway, I thing I have convinced her not on RCCL, and not in 2009.

The only problem with the ships water is that it is to pure, it doesn't contain the minerals etc, normally found in tap water, this is not a problem for passengers, but crew, who are on board a lot longer do supplement the tap water with some bottled water that supplies nutrients and minerals

Yes, the TAP water on-board is actually going to be a lot cleaner than anything you will get at home, or in a bottle for that matter.

 

However, I'm sure they put something in their water that gets you addicted and calls you back to cruise again and again (just kidding). But I have to have some kind of an excuse...
