cruz4evr Posted October 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2009 This will be my first cruise on Carnival.....does anyone know if there is an iron in the room or not. Have any of you packed a travel steam iron just in case? By the time I unpack everything some things are already wrinkled, especially cotton fabrics. Thanks in advance... cathyz Posted October 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2009 No, there are no irons and they are not allowed onboard, so please don't bring one. There are several laundry rooms onboard that have one or two irons and boards for your use.
katiel53 Posted October 1, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2009 Irons in the cabin are a safety hazard, so please don't bring one. I have mostly cotton clothes and I put them on hangers and in dry cleaner bags and they are barely wrinkled. If you don't use a dry cleaner, you can probably buy the bags for 5 or 10 cents a piece. This makes for easy packing/unpacking. Enjoy, but don't take an iron.
DBKK Posted October 1, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2009 I just bought some Downy Wrinkle Free spray and it works great. I am planning on taking it on our upcoming cruise. No irons needed and cruise lines don't allow it from what I understand.
sharecruises Posted October 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 1, 2009 I have also used the "wrinkle spray">> it does work another idea....hang your clothes up on the door while you shower to steam out the wrinkles there are ways to pack too that help prevent wrinkles...ie, folding the clothes over, or "rolling " them....garment bags work well too
cruz4evr Posted October 1, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted October 1, 2009 (edited) Thanks for all your replies and I do understand how an iron could be a fire hazard. The reason I asked about the steamer is because some people here on CC have mentioned taking one on their cruise. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear, I didn't mean a regular iron but a steamer. I imagine they are not allowed either. Edited October 1, 2009 by cruz4evr

cb at sea Posted October 1, 2009 #8 Share Posted October 1, 2009 Carnival has laundry rooms with irons for the guests to use....look on the deck plans and find the closest one to your cabin.
CathyG Posted October 1, 2009 #9 Share Posted October 1, 2009 CB At Sea - I looked at many deck plans and I don't see a laundry room on any ship. What am I missing? We're sailing on the Valor and I'd sure like to know where they are. Cathy

cruiserbryce Posted October 2, 2009 #18 Share Posted October 2, 2009 nope...and like others said..dont bother bringing your own...they will not let it on because it prevents a fire hazard
longcoolwoman Posted October 2, 2009 #19 Share Posted October 2, 2009 I am headed out next week and I purchased a steamer at Target for $20. It is different than an iron and if they don't like it I'm sure they will confiscate it, but I think it will be okay.

CathyG Posted October 3, 2009 #23 Share Posted October 3, 2009 TakeMeAway - I'm a little late thanking you for the info. The room numbers in the book are tiny but I think I found the room they are referring to. However, it doesn't say laundry. Is that right? In fact, I think our room is almost across from this area. Will it be noisy? I also found other info that was helpful and have saved this for future reference. Thanks again. Cathy
TakeMeAway1001 Posted October 3, 2009 #24 Share Posted October 3, 2009 You might here some more noise on dress up nights but usually everyone is either out or getting ready themselves, I don't think you will have any problems unless people are drying sneakers :) Have a great cruise~
