sddsddean Posted October 2, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2009 Has anyone used National in Cherbourg? We have a car reserved and I was just going to do myself a map of how to get to the hire place, when I saw on there webpage that the 'ferry port' is a meet and greet only location. You use a courtesy phone to call National and they come to you. I have e mailed National to try and find out if there is a courtesy phone on the cruise side of the port, but they didn't really know and said if all else fails, phone the rental office number (which I've got). I just wondered if anyone has done this and can tell me what really happens! Simon

It's the service provider in Europe for bookings on National and Alamo. http://maps.maporama.com/idl/europcar/partner.aspx?xsl=map&PBC_1_config=default&PBC_1_list=CERL01&xml=map&lang=FR Their location is at the train station: http://www.europcar.fr/EBE/module/render/Booking-See-Station-Detail?pkid=CERL01&date=09062009 You will arrive here: http://welcome.port-cherbourg.com/cruises/the-cruise-terminal/ and the ferry terminal is here with some more car rental offices: http://welcome.port-cherbourg.com/ferries-passagers/useful-info/ http://www.location-voiture-vehicule.com/location-voitures-cherbourg_355.htm If you check google maps: and enter Cherbourg Quai de Normandie. and then see this map: http://welcome.port-cherbourg.com/port-of-cherbourg-sas/useful-info/ Cité de la mer is located more less at Quai de France where the cruise terminal is located. The Ferry Terminal is Gare Maritime Transmanche on this 2nd map. Now you might have an idea about the locations in Cherbourg. sddsddean Posted October 3, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted October 3, 2009 Thanks for all the info HeinBloed. The point I am trying to ask is that the ferry port Europcar office is given on their website as Cherbourg Ferry Port 25 Rue Du Val De Saire Cherbourg , 50100 FR and then there is this note How to Find Us: Directions for: CHERBOURG FERRYPORT - This is a meet and greet location only and customers must use the courtesy telephone on arrival. A ferry number is mandatory at this location. The ferry companies that service this port are Britany Ferries and Irish Ferries. So what I am trying to find out is if other people have used this meet and greet before and if there is a courtesy phone in the cruise terminal. I've got the office phone number, so I can always use my mobile if there is no courtesy phone. Simon
