Just Booked the Triumph

Just booked the Triumph out of New Orleans - 7 nights out of New Orleans, Western Caribbean; there's only one week like it planned (for spring break) and the week before is an Eastern route. Always in the past I've enjoyed reading reviews from others, but this time there won't be any identical weeks. I'd still love to hear all the positives and not to miss spots on the Triumph! Please give me some of your great experiences and advice!

We loved the Glory - has anyone sailed both and how do they compare?

Im confused what you mean by the only week like it?? It will do this 7 day Western once a month, does one week eastern, one week western, then 5/4/5 day cruises in between.

congrats. Id love to do the week with Belize and Roatan, I love Roatan especially.

Gosh, I didn't realize it would do this once each month! I need to do my research before assuming........sorry! What do you recommend at Roatan? We did Banister Island at Belize once before, but would like recommendations for there also.

Thanks, and I'll look forward to maybe reading reviews from others that do the same cruise on the same ship.

We loved Victor Bodden and 5 of us from our roll call meet him and he took us ALL DAY to wherever you wanted to go. Another roll call group of more active folks also used him that wanted to zip line and go to the beach. For $2 pp he will also take you to his home to hold the monkeys. You get into the cage with the small monkeys which you feed cookies and they are all over you. I wanted to buy coffee so he took us to a nice look out while I went into the grocery to buy my coffee. We had a fabulous day. You can also get taxis pretty cheap if you want to do spur of the minute. Iv now been there the last 3 years around Easter.

I'm sure you'll have a great time on the Triumph - we just got back and LOVED it!!!

We heard before we left that it was confusing to get around, but didn't really have any problems ourselves. The most important thing to remember is that decks 2, 5, 9 are the ones that go through the whole ship, the other decks don't go front to back.

We were deck 6 aft so pretty much just had to go one floor down to 5 each time and it was easy to get around.

Favourite things for us:

- breakfast in the MDR every day. We asked for a different location each day for 2 and had amazing tables all week long!

- sitting upstairs in the South Beach club when we got food from the buffet or grill. There was ALWAYS tables, even if it was packed in the main seating area. Just go up the stairs behind the fruit area.

- watching the water from our aft balcony!

- night-time shows in the Rome Lounge ... the hypnotist was great

- quarter-shooting machine in the casino, of course I lost everything I put into the machine but I've never had such fun at a casino. The game really drew a crowd!

Anyway, if you have any other questions, let me know!

Jenn

Where was your favorite pool spot?

I'd go with the aft pool at sirens myself. It has a retractable roof incase of bad weather and is usually less crowded than the main lido pool.

One of the highlites of my trip on the triumph was having an aft extended balcony. Very peaceful back there. I will agree with not missing breakfast in the DR and with going up the stair behind the fruit for a quieter table from the buffet. My first cruise was on the sister ship victory and for a week we might have seen 6-8 people up there other than ourselves...TOTAL!

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO teacher2cruiser: I just came off the Triumph and had a good trip to New England/Canada. It is my favorite place to cruise. I don't know much about the Western Carribbean having never been there at all. I can tell you about the Triumph having sailed on this ship three times.

My wife and I have found the food to be excellent. Having good food on board is important. The hot soups are hot and the chilled soup is chilled. The food tastes good. The desserts we've had were good too. If in doubt have the warm chocolate melting cake. It is always good.

The service is just a notch below Celebrity Cruise Line, however, the service is excellent.

The casino is good and if you get to be a rated player you can get benefits. You will get drinks while you are playing and they will send bottles of wine to the dining room for you. With more play you could get discounts on future cruises.

The best place to be on the Lido Deck is the New World Pool area. It is enclosed, the pizzeria is there and the BBQ is there. The oreintal resturant is along one side and the Deli on the other wall in the buffett area.

We had three really good cruises on the Triumph. You should have a good time.

Which dining room were you in for dinner? Do you prefer one over the other if given a choice?

Where was your favorite pool spot?

We were in Paris dining room at the aft ... it had great views if you were near a window. London Dining room is more in the middle of the ship.

Breakfast/Lunch is served in Paris as well. We went to breakfast there every morning - my only disappointment was with the Cinnamon French Toast, which is now made with Raisin Bread, which I don't like. :( Everything else was great tho, especially the croissants!! :D It's so much more relaxing than the buffet.

As for the pool, we never used that since we were on a Canada cruise!

We're taking this same trip during Christmas week, and can't wait! We've picked Rony's tour ("freestyle") for Roatan, and trying to decide about Belize & Cozumel for diving.

I'm wondering what everyone thinks of the ship itself, and Empress deck balcony & interior rooms (we've got one of each - but mid-ship, not aft).

Look forward to any good hints (like the upstairs at the buffet area!)

Thanks!
