scfa99 Posted October 27, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2009 I just had to change my reservation to a connecting D1 cabin (long story). We are both light sleepers, how much extra noise should we expect from the door? I know it all depends on our neighbors, just trying to figure out if we should expect a lot of additional noise because its not a traditional wall. Also would we be better off getting an E1 aft balcony, its a bit smaller than the D1 but its not connecting to another room? We will have 2 adults and 1 six yr old in our room. Do the aft rooms off the back add any room?
vickiw0318 Posted October 27, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 27, 2009 Light sleeper here too. I've had three connecting cabins and haven't heard a peep from any of my neighbors.

familycruzer Posted October 27, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2009 Connecting cabins twice for me and my kids have one in January. No problems with noise.Aft cabins are sometimes a bit bigger than the average in its catagory but the balconies are worth it alone. They are way bigger. cb at sea Posted October 27, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2009 It's the balcony that is substantially larger (deeper)--the cabin itself, not so much, depending on the ship!
Colorado Kat Posted October 28, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 28, 2009 We had a connecting cabin last summer, on a Carnival ship - terrible noise! A 3-4 year old who sceamed at all hours, and parents who had some loud drunken "conversations" late at night. I don't know if they had the kid out late with them in bars, or if only one parent was out drinking, and came back noisy, but it was very bad. It all depends on your neighbors. cruiseguy1016 Posted October 28, 2009 #9 Share Posted October 28, 2009 We've had connecting cabins twice and never had a problem with noise. If I had the choice though, I'd grab the aft cabin. The balcony will be much larger than your current one and we love the view from the aft cabins.

Sounds like you'd hear that "fine crew" even if you didn't have a connecting cabin.
