How did you earn your "Ship On A Stick?"

Won 5 on our first cruise. Between 2 sons and DH and I we won Horse Racing, Triva, DH did the YMCA, and I sang for mine. Have not won one since. But did win a bath robe on our last cruise on the first night.

I won 2 on the Valor earlier this year. One was for winning Who Wants to be a Millionaire and the other DH and I won by winning the scavenger hunt.

I received my 24 carat solid plastic Ship on a Stick in November 2007 aboard the Carnival Triumph. My story is very similar to the original poster.

 

I had just come back to the ship from a fishing excursion at Half Moon Cay. I was one of the last people to tender back to the Triumph because our little group of three were catching lots of fish.

 

Of course, I missed lunch that day and I was starving, so after having a shower to wash the salt off of me, I went to the pizzaria for some eats. As I was waiting in line my table mates from the dining room, whom I only met the night before, came up to me and asked me if I had certain items on me. Items such as a set of car keys, a picture of a dog or a disposable camera. I had nothing of the sort on me.

 

Just as I was next in line to order my pizza, the two women (my table mates) pulled me out of the line and escorted me to the pool area. The ladies told me to follow their instructions quickly and not to ask questions. Being the good sport that I am, I did what I was told.

 

One of them took off her hair extensions and put them on me. The other took off my shoes and socks and told me to wear her shoes. Next thing I knew, a skirt was pulled from their bag, and they put it on me, along with a bra, which they also put on me and stuffed it with my socks. One of the ladies also started applying lipstick on my lips and cheeks. The other then handed me a purse.

 

This was happening in front of the sunbathers in the pool area and they were all laughing. Next thing I knew, the cruise director came out with a microphone in her hand and announced to everyone at the pool, "It looks like Team #2 is in the process of fulfilling #19 on the Scavenger Hunt".

 

Scavenger Hunt #19: A man dressed like a woman. Full makeup, handbag, high heel shoes, bra, etc. Not on your team (200 points).

 

As I was being dressed up, another team came in with a victim. The cruise director commented, "Team #1 looks like they have a 'willing participant' and they are fulfilling #3 on the Scavenger Hunt list.

 

Scavenger Hunt #3: A man wearing a ladies swim suit not on your team (150 points).

 

The other guy just put the swimsuit over his clothes, and he really wasn't into the whole thing.

 

After we were dressed up me and the other guy were paraded around the pool area by the two scavenger hunt teams, while the cruise director rallied up the crowd to cheer us on. Then we had to pose for pictures. Again, I was really into this contest and I wanted Team #2, who conscripted me, to win. After all, if they are going to humiliate me in front of total strangers, they had better win. So I hammed it up during the picture taking.

 

I don't know what hurt more, the humiliating laughter from my ship mates, or the shoes with heels that were half the size of my feet.

 

The cruise director then had a vote amongst the crowd to see if Team 1 or Team 2 wins this part of the scavenger hunt. The crowd overwhelmingly cheered for Team #2, my team. Needless to say, Team 2 won the scavenger hunt overall, and they were handed the coveted 24 carat solid plastic Ship on a Stick. The team gave me the little trophy because my dressing up like a woman put them over the top and that is what won Team #2 the scavenger hunt.

 

We celebrated our win by getting a few drinks at one of the bars. I never did get to the pizza place, and I had to wait until dinner to eat with my family as well as my "kidnapper" table mates.

 

Later that night, passengers who passed me by on the ship, or in the elevators recognized me as "that guy at the pool."

We won the family dance contest...doing the twist with my DH and DS!

I won mine for the Hairy Chest contest on the conquest and then me and my wife won another for the water olympics on the same cruise.

I won mine by having my team win the scavenger hunt on the Paradise.. of course.. I was the only guy on the team.. so I had to endure having lipstick put on me.. :)

 

And since it was my Birthday.. the team let me have the ship on a stick :)

 

 

and then I won two medals on my last cruise for winning trivia.. one for the tv commericals one, and then overall. (it was half commericals/half sports.. 3 medals overall... didnt do that well at sports.. but it was enough to win overall)

We have won all of our playing Trivia. We are not so good at Movie Trivia..or Music Trivia..but we are good on Historical..political..geography...things like that. I do notice younger players..and they are often tough to beat. I love when a good crowd gathers for Trivia..they are always good natured and lots of fun.

 

On the Glory..several years ago..My DH and I won the trivia game they had before Bingo on the last night of the Cruise. That night..I got a bottle of champagne. I brought it home. and we had it on NY Eve. It brought back great memories. I LOVE the Glory. The Dream is going to have to be super good..to beat the Glory. I wish they would put the Glory on the Panama Canal route..now that the Miracle is going to Aruba. Or better yet..put the Glory on new islands..Martinque...Grenada...Everytime Carnival puts out a New Ports of Call trip....it stays booked for over a year.

I wish they would do a cruise up the Eastern Seaboard..Charlestown..D.C...Washington ..NYC.....I would love being able to let them do the 'driving" and have the ship to come home to at night in those cities.

Won the Slot Tournament on the Triumph second cruise. I could see the score from behind the tape that they had covering the score. I heard three players scores before me and I knew that mine was more. The Host then skipped over me since I was so confident and did everyone else's score. I knew by the time he peeled off the tape that I had won.

I actaully won 2 on our last cruise this past January...on the Miracle. The first one was when I was in the audience for the trivia contest...the question had to do with Mary Poppins and for a bonus the contestants were asked if they could spell the 'famous' word in the movie...niether could... the CD asked the audience and I spelled...
SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS....he gave me a ship on a stick and a bottle of champagne!! I took the champagne to dinner the next night and shared it with our tablemates! The other one was from family Fued! Good times...good times.:D

I can only remember 2 out of the 4 that we won for sure. One was for "Name that Celebrity" where we had to identify the celebrity(ies) from pictures. The other one was from the TV theme song contest. We've won at least 1 ship on a stick from each of the last 3 Carnival cruises we've been on. Sadly, we won't get anymore. :( At least I won't be so obsessive about playing the trivia games without the incentive of winning "my very own, solid gold, plastic ship on a stick." ;) I'll probably spend more time tanning and finally make it to tea time for some scones, lemon curd and finger sandwiches.
