From what has been posted on the CC message boards it appears this is going to be a fun and full cruise. As far as the best deal only shopping around can find you that answer. Good luck. Everyone has a different idea of cruise lines, they all do a good job it just depends on what you want on board. Do you want a full transit or partial transit? Do you want smaller ship , mega ship, formal nights, no formal nights, lots of things to do onboard???? A good TA can sit down with you & go over your wants/needs & find a ship to suit you Lyn
PROCRUISE Posted November 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2009 Our friends want to do a Panama Canal cruise in January/10. This is their first cruise, and they wonder which would be the best "deal" and which cruise line to use. As mentioned it is actually fairly simple. If you do a full transit of the Panama Canal, like we did, from Miami to Los Angeles (17 days), there are only so many ships available that do this itinerary. If you just want a particle transit, there are several more ships that do this itinerary of just going in, turning around and returning to where you started. Also remember that because of the canals restrictive size, many of the new ships simple cannot cross the Panama Canal because they are too big. The full transit is a true adventure but many people cannot take that long of a vacation or don't want to spend the extra money that a full transit costs-but it is worth it!! Looking for "deals" is fairly simple with the internet access to every cruise line or have your TA do it for you.
