tgg Posted December 10, 2009 #27 Share Posted December 10, 2009 I just canceled a Caribbean cruise I had booked on AZ for Jan. 2011 because even before the announcement and price increases it was $388 more pp in a cat G/12 inside for the almost identical itinerary on O. Nothing in the enhancements is of interest to me or worth $388, $776 for 2 for a 12 day Caribbean cruise. If I decide to do a cruise at that time I'll be coming back to O. I enjoyed my 3 cruises on AZ over the last 2 years but I always got great price drops and cabin upgrades that priced them far below O. I also enjoyed my O cruise in 2006; to me the two companies/cruise experiences are equal. I follow the ships. For those of you who may remember me, skeptic susiesan may be back! Isn't the O cruise only 10 days? Azamara's cruise is 20% longer at 12 days. I wonder how the per diems would work out with the gratuities included on Azamara? I wonder how the per diems would work out with the gratuities included on Azamara? Both cruises I was comparing are 12 days. I have prepaid gratuities from a TA. I can take or leave wine and don't drink beer. I never do laundry on cruises. Overnights in the Caribbean are of no interest to me. AZ per diem is $150, O per diem is $125. AZ cruise has 6 ports, 4 sea days. O cruise has 8 ports, 3 sea days. O wins for me.
