If you were in charge of NCL...

My mother always said, having a "smoking" and a "non-smoking" section in a restaurant is like having a "peeing" and a "non-peeing" section in the pool. I think the same concept applies here. It won't do a whole lot of good unless the entire room (with separate ventilation etc) is non-smoking.

I have heard that before too (the pool analogy). But actually having the non-smokinmg bank of slots on Celebrity was actually pretty good. It was a definate improvement. There was still a smell in the room, but I can't tell you how many times (in other casinos) I get a machine I really like and someone comes and sits down right next to me and the smoke comes right up at me into my face. On the Summit, this was not an issue. I actually spent more time and MONEY in the casino on that cruise than on any other. So, while not perfect, it was a way that smokers and non-smokers' wants and needs were addressed without 100% one way or the other or the ships having two separate casinos.

Wife is healing, it takes time, espiecially that "re-construction", it's a tough surgery...But she is doing well, she's got a good attitude and that's the key, when it comes to the big "C".

Merry Christmas right back at you!

we missed going on that Panama:mad:

Glad to hear she's improving. And yes, the reconstructive surgery is really rough. It will take months for the pain to fully reside, but eventually, she will feel like her old self again. We're all rooting for a complete recovery and that she kicks the big C's butt big time!!!

The idea of a dress code kind of blows me away. Why should I be forced to dress a certain way on my vacation??? And what would this dress code be? I can't wear tank tops during the day? No shorts? I understand dress codes after 5 PM in the MDRs, but at other times? Makes no sense.

I believe the vast majority of comments regarding dress code do, in fact, refer to the after 5 PM situation in the MDRs, even if that isn't explicitly stated. I've rarely seen comments on this board in a different context, except perhaps with respect to people wondering about the ship in their bathrobe or underwear, etc.

What I would like to see are more activities for non-drinkers and people without kids. I don't want to make paper flowers or towel animals. How about, like others suggested, we have educational seminars? Shoot, as a professor I'd volunteer to give a lecture on my research (autism)!

Yes! We like to have a good time, too! Trying to order an alcohol-free Margarita wasn't worth the trouble. The staff acted as if that was impossible, and then tried to sell us a different alcoholic drink. At the Latitudes get-together, Murder Mystery Dinner, etc., they kept trying to force the free drinks on us after we politely said "No thank you." In the past there has always been an alcohol-free drink page in the menu, but not on our Dawn cruise earlier this month. NCL lost a lot of $$$ off of us this time.

Why does NCL have meetings for "Friends of Bill W." (or whatever it's called), and then do this?

Give the an upper category of suite double the Latitude credit...

Give upper level cabins and platinum free laundry...

I love the idea of digital photos....Disney Cruise line uses kiosks...you find you photos and order them from there..

All the above were really good - but what always mystefies me is why NCL doesn't have a pool with a retractable roof. November 2008 we were on the Gem and the pool deck was deserted. Last month on the MSC Splendida there were loads of folk in the covered pool and it was great relaxing on armchairs there.

the price of wine is HIGH..here in Portugal we pay at a local German supermarket chain euro 1.99 for California red wine in a bottle...this includes profit of the shop, govt tax , growers profit, shippers profit..so how come "house wine" on ncl is 22 dollars plus the auto tip! At a rest here its normal for house wine to about 8 euros.

So when you look around at dinner time not many seem to order wine ..I wonder why?

If they want to stop people getting drinking too much they doing a great job:(

Understood. The smell in general makes me sick but to each his own!

We would love the non smoking and NCLU options, but would really like to see a dress code after 5 in the main dining rooms. Doesn't have to be suits & ties, but we would rather not sit next to someone who had a monkey pee on them, and then wear the same blouse to dinner......

Jeans, shorts, halter tops.....and now no monkey urine. Will the restrictions never end? :D

Did you actually have this happen? Was she sitting at your table? Did the person relate the monkey story to you? Could you tell us?

I so agree with that! On my first cruise, I was so looking for information about the ports... and I don't talk about the shops

I would be interested in your lecture on autism.

A lecture on Mayan history would have been great for Belize & Costa Maya. Even something about the current troubles in Honduras would have been fascinating (although that might have scared some passengers).

Yes, we were on the shore excursion w/ them and we did see the little dahlin' irrigate her blouse. There were 3 monkeys all over her, trying to rub her insect repellent off onto their fur. She was a very good sport about the monkeys, but the same blouse to dinner and the show?

That doesn't sound like a logical reason to impose a dress code. You could get moved to a different table. I don't think NCL wants to have someone sniff everybody who enters the dining room.

Same thing I put on every single survey I do for NCL:

Reward Latitudes by number of days sailed not number of cruises. I'm tired of having my 19-day and 14-day and 15-day cruises' date=' heck even my 9 and 7 day cruises count the same as the 1-nighter to nowhere cruises. Those of us who sail these longer cruises spend MUCH more money on excursions, alternative restaurants, photos, drinks, and the casino and we should be rewarded accordingly. Initially, I was very hopeful when NCL announced there would be changes to the Latitudes program as part of their 2.0 upgrades, but nothing came of that.[/quote']

Last time I checked ( I have been on 4 NCL cruises this year) it was based on sea days not number of cruises.!!

Perhaps a call to NCl as I did will clarify things.

Really? Yhen why do my 4 cruises, for a total of 59 sea days, still require me to sail one more cruise to move out of bronze status?

How many days required for the various levels?

On our last Med cruise, we were told that ships buy their alcohol duty free, so the profits must be extraordinary.

Same as the photo situation - would they make more profit if the wine was cheaper thus encouraging more folk to buy the wine ?
