Mark_K Posted January 1, 2010 #28 Share Posted January 1, 2010 Good grief - there is nothing fishy about it. She jumped. Her husband is as crew member. I would assume that he was at work all morning which would be why he didn't realize she was missing. Get a grip. There isn't always something sinister about things like this. Good grief - the post by bayou cruiser was made at just after midnight last night, the article that mentioned it being the wife of a crew member wasn't posted here until 9:30 this morning. You expect him to be psychic? Get a grip. Not every poster is sinister.
IBookHePays Posted January 1, 2010 #29 Share Posted January 1, 2010 It's a tough time of year for a lot of people. I'm praying the husband is getting the help he needs.
onyourtoes Posted January 1, 2010 #30 Share Posted January 1, 2010 Goes overboard at 4:00 am. RCI reports it and a seach is begun at 2:00 pm. 10 hours later? According to what I read, her husband didn't report it until 12:15 pm and the search began at 2:00 p.m. Why would he wait 8 hour to report it? Just wondering

bluegirlum Posted January 1, 2010 #33 Share Posted January 1, 2010 He was a crew member. He was probably working, and didn't realize she was missing. Just guessing here. Sayhello I have to agree. I'm sure he had no idea she was missing at first. I've seen posts on other cases like this where people say that they separate from their partners for hours and don't think anything of it. We have no idea what happened and probably never will. What a horrible situation. My thoughts are with everyone involved.

peanutJMV Posted January 1, 2010 #36 Share Posted January 1, 2010 My heart goes out to her husband and her family, they are the ones who suffer.... For someone to want to jump off a ship you would need to be depressed, under the influence and/or psychotic. If she jumped from the 11th-12th deck, she likely died when she hit the water. - I find it a very selfish. They have no consideration for anyone except themselves. -involves investigation, everyone looks at the surviving spouse or significant other questioning if they had anything to do with it. If you want to take your life, thats your choice, there are other ways, then to cause problems for others-- at least afford your family the courtesy prior and leave a goodbye note to your family. It really sucks.

It really sucks. No it is not just a matter of being selfish. Most people who commit suicide are in such pain that they do not or cannot think properly. They just want the pain to stop. For anyone who thinks it's fishy, reread posts #11 and #13.

I couldn't agree more. Depression is such a misunderstood disease. If the poor woman had the proper help for depression, maybe this would never have happened. It's a loose, loose situation anyway you look at it.
Bigtex1622 Posted January 1, 2010 #41 Share Posted January 1, 2010 Well nothing fishy could have happened. With all the cameras around, they know where and when everyone is. They can easily know where the husband was at the time, and they can see her climbing over the railing.

Desert Cruizers Posted January 2, 2010 #44 Share Posted January 2, 2010 This is always so heart breaking to hear and our prayers are with her family. As mentioned above, during the day, if DH & I go off to do differant things, we communicate where we will be or meet up at a location for an activity. As mentioned being he was a crew memember, and when he got off duty, probably resulted in the delay.
PH8 Posted January 2, 2010 #45 Share Posted January 2, 2010 I wonder why nobody looks at the video while its being recorded??:confused:I would think it would be someone's job(or more than one person) to help keep an eye on things going on the ship while they are happening.. Yes, but how many cameras are located throughout the ship? I've heard varying numbers, so it seems it would be difficult to catch everything. Plus, a "watcher" might see something suspicious but if someone is hell bent on doing something, could anyone get there in time?

PH8 Posted January 2, 2010 #49 Share Posted January 2, 2010 Sure, but the White House is a whole different ball game.;) I just used that as an example.......lots of big businesses have surveillance..... oh well, who am I to suggest they do that?:p
iheartbda Posted January 2, 2010 #50 Share Posted January 2, 2010 I just used that as an example.......lots of big businesses have surveillance..... oh well, who am I to suggest they do that?:p Hey, don't we all have a better way of doing something?:D I couldn't find too much on surveillance cameras, not that I'm trying to prove anything, just out of curiosity and this is what I found on a quick looky look. "Think about a cruise ship for a moment. It's quite literally a floating resort. So when it comes to video surveillance, the camera system must be able to monitor a wide variety of areas with completely unique needs. A single ship can include restaurants, lodging, a casino, pools, a workout room, shops, a sprawling deck (most likely with shuffleboard courts), and much more. In order to monitor that much unique territory, a comprehensive surveillance system is vital." At the end of the day, it's a sad situation for everyone involved
