I just scored a great black sequined dress too much?

Hi I just scored a full length black silk dress, like a shift, with no sleeves, and a slit up the back. There is sequins over the whole thing with bands of sequins around the arm holes, neck and hem. Looks great on me, and is really slimming. The only thing is I would wear it with a black sheer blouse over to hide my tats.. lol

do you think it would be to much dress? I know all over sequins aren't really in now, and it looks like a vintage dress, is there anything I can do to spice it up? red leather heels? strappy red or black sandals? small red leather jacket? It is full length but not a full skirt, I'm at a loss here, I like it and the way it fits, but it needs something.

Any suggestions?

p.s. I am in the over 60 crowd, so lets rein it in a bit...lol I am daring tho... hence the tats..lol

Short gray hair, 6 ft tall about 200 well stacked lbs. me in a handbasket. I do not want to appear to Man-ish.

If you love the dress and how you look in it, I say GO for it! :D

Since the dress is "showy", keep the shoes simple. A simple black heel of some kind, either a sandal, or a peeptoe pump would be my choice. And then you can wear them with another outfit, too. At first I imagined a bright red shoe and thought it may be a cool look, but then I came to think it would be too much contrast and excitement for my taste. ;)

maybe, ok here's the dress, and everything else in my gallery.. lol The dress is kind of shapeless on the hanger, but it fits very well.

Yes, strappy black sandals, and sheer blouse? Yes, a little more of an elegant look than red whatevers...lol the dress is enough flash if you ask me.. lol thanks

Oh dear, I hope its not to "crossdresser"ish... yikes.. oh what to do? Is it to "beauty pagent?" you tell me,,

Please, no red shoes. The dress has character but a sheer blouse would be a bad choice I fear. Do you have a black silk short jacket to wear over the dress or a boutique where you could buy one? This dress says all black, no distractions with red shoes, blouses, etc.

I have a great pair of black mid-heel black patent slingbacks that I usually bring as my only dress shoe on cruises (because they look great, go with everything and are comfortable.) I find the patent looks much dressier than a smooth leather,

Something like that would probably go well. As mentioned earlier , the dress sounds like it does not need a "showy" shoe.

Seems to me that as you're a girl with tats you like a bit of a statement - I'd go for red shoes and a red purse - but then I'm Spanish and just LOVE red and black! It looks fab, whatever you decide to do - wish it was mine!

Love the dress! I agree with a few of the other posters. A cute little bolero jacket or a dressy wrap. I'd forget about the blouse, I think it would take away from the dress. There's just something so sexy about a casually draped wrap or shawl. And for my 2 cents...I think a black strappy shoe!

Forget the blouse...I think it would really take away from the dress. I'm with those that say 'show the tats'. I have a shoulder piece and on our last cruise, I wore a strapless gown. If you're really concerned about the tat on your arm (is that the only one?), what about a shawl, wrapped over the shoulders and around the one arm? Not sure if I'm describing it well enough...

This is a lovely, elegant dress and if I were you, I would wear it with no ornament but your grey hair, drop black earings, simple black sandals and a shawl.

Maybe a 1920s style "piano" shawl if you feel you want some colour? But IMO, plain black would do fine. The dress on you will be a show-stopper. Anything else would be a distraction.

Agree with the wrap if you want something to cover up. I got a great one at Target that I wear as a scarf when it gets cold. Why not show off your tats? That is a fabulous dress and you shouldn't hide it or yourself. I'm probably the most conservative person in the world and don't have any tats b/c I'm afraid of needles, but think that is a great dress. It would go best with some black shoes.

Have fun with it!

I say if you want -- a simple thin wrap but I wouldn't wear it if the only reason is to cover a tattoo.

I like non shiny black satin type shoes. They can be dressy but not tooo showy. I have some cute strappy sandals with ~2 in heels and they can go dressy or more casual. When you travel gotta get most bang for your space!
