pamelajean62 Posted January 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2010 Traveling with DD (17) and DD's friend (18) on Freedom of the Seas. DD has been on several cruises but it will be the first for DD's friend. I know DD will get a double punch and her friend will get a single punch. My question is can I request the friend's card be double punched as well? They are both good kids but I don't want any "temptations". Anyone have any experience with this situation? czcruiser13 Posted January 10, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2010 If your refering to buying alcohol you gotta be 21. The punch will prevent that. No need for 2 holes.:)
reallyitsmema Posted January 10, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 10, 2010 I am sure you can ask, not sure if they will do it though. The 18 yr old will be allowed in the casino and in the adult disco but still will not be able to drink. The 18 yr old will not be allowed into the teen area even with the extra punch, they have a list of names of the kids who are eligible.
pamelajean62 Posted January 10, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted January 10, 2010 Thanks - I was referring to alcohol. I guess I haven't cruised since the policy changed. I think that 18 - 20 used to be able to drink beer and wine. I see where RC changed the policy to 21 sometime in 2006.
reallyitsmema Posted January 10, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2010 There is a waiver that the parent can sign to allow the 18-20 yr old to drink but that is for European and South American cruises. For cruises originating in a US post, there is not waiver.
cb at sea Posted January 10, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2010 Neither will be served..don't worry! (Unless they go ashore...the drinking age is lower almost everywhere but the US!
fridaythe13th Posted January 10, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 10, 2010 I thought I read that the Seapass cards have changed a bit. No more punches, different cards/colors??? Anyone experience this yet?
madforcruising Posted January 10, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 10, 2010 While I think your "problem" has been resolved already, just a thought to ad. If you would have punched the 18yo Seapass card twice to show them underage, you need to be aware that the 18yo could go to the guest relations anytime to report the Seapass as lost and get a new one with only one whole;). Loyal2RCCL Posted January 10, 2010 #10 Share Posted January 10, 2010 The Sepass cards are still punched for minors and the cards themselves are different.. the underage kids have a silouette/shadow of kids on the background of the card.
