Rascal1 Posted January 10, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2010 Hi, We are booked on the Grand Princess sailing out of Southampton in June, which currency is used on board? Most ports will be the Euro but I wondered if it would still be the US Dollar on board the ship? Thanks.

Cymro1953 Posted January 10, 2010 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2010 And even if you have a port of call outside the Eurozone, e.g. Turkey, Egypt and Morocco all they seem to want is Euros or U.S.$. We evn got change in Euros in Turkey and Morocco. Berwyn
paul929207 Posted January 10, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2010 On the ship everything will be US$. In most ports you will need the local currency.
asctony Posted January 10, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 10, 2010 On our last Med Cruise, 04/09, we bought Euros here in the US. We could use Euros all over the Med and even in Turkey. In some place they would say a price in Euros and in $. So, listen carefully - if it is the same price quoted in $ and Euros, go for the $ unless the $ really makes a big gain against the Eruo. We also used our credit card. When we got our Credit Card statement, we got a better rate than we got with buying Euros in the US. Euros bought onboard were much higher. So, you may want to use your Credit card. Enjoy the cruise and tours. We did. Happy Cruising.

paul929207 Posted January 10, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 10, 2010 I never buy Euros in the US. I get them from ATM's in Europe.
