Rare roscoe39 Posted January 13, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2010 Has anyone taken the Luxor excursion while on a cruise? Was it worth it or was seeing the Pyramids enough? Was it exhausting? hi, we did the luxor excursion form Safaga in 2008 with the Queen Victoria. I had been to luxor in the past but it was still well worth doing again. The area is so rich in history and atmosphere you cant take it all in in one let alone two or three visits. Even visiting the valley of the kings, you will an opportunity to view different tombs as different ones are open every week. Exchausting???? Hell yeah....but still..... go....! paul929207 Posted January 13, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 13, 2010 Where are you getting off the ship? If it is Alexandria, it is a long trip to Luxor. If you are docking in Safaga then it is more doable.
CLEMM Posted January 13, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted January 13, 2010 We will be docking in Alexandria for two days, but the second day is not a full day. I have never been to Egypt before so I was wondering if I should fly to Luxor the first day and then do an abbreviated pyramids the second day, or do the pyramids the first day and the sites of Alexandria the second day. There is are no direct flights from Alex to Luxor....its hard to do both and have any time on the second day to see Cairo. Personally I would suggest skipping Luxor until you have more time and spend the day and half in Cairo....you'll need every minute. the picture is from Luxor and was published. With a short second day, I think I'd opt to do Cairo on Day 1 and Alexandria on Day 2 so you are near the ship. Much as I love Luxor, I agree it's hardly possible with your constraints.
