Changing your dining time

Excellent...call whoever you booked with, and ask to be put on a "waitlist" for your other choice. If that doesn't happen prior to the sailing, go to the dining room on boarding day, and see what they can do for you. Generally, if not on the 1st night, they'll get you what you want by night 2.

If I sign up for my time dining ahead of time, since I can only get late seating right now on the VOS May 23rd ( on wait list for 7 pm), and the first night I find out I can switch, will they let you even if I have prepaid gratuities?

They might let you out of MTD with gratuities prepaid, but my guess is they'll just ask you to mimick standard dining each night by making a set reservation if that is what you want.

OP ... you may be able to switch, but it depends on how full early dining is and how many people are trying to get into it. They will try their best, but an early MTD reservation may be a good backup plan if you don't mind prepaying gratuities.
