Crown Prince Posted January 28, 2010 #51 Share Posted January 28, 2010 I was not in the least bit upset by this. Perhaps a bit embarrassed because of my own stupidity but certainly not upset. You have to have a sense of humor about things! To answer your questions, yes the wine by delivered the last evening of the cruise. I decided to that the guy who delivered it to me (who had heard the whole story and had a huge smile on his face) needed that wine more than I did. So I gave it to him. Boy was he HAPPY! By the way, one thing I forgot to mention. One of the women in our group took a 2 liter bottle of premixed margaritas in her suitcase (yes a HUGE bottle including the alcohol!) and her suitcase was never searched. The moral of the story:: YOU LOSE YOUR WINE...YOU DRINK MARGARITAS AND ALSO HAVE A BIG BAR BILL! LOL! It was a great cruise! I will post the pictures soon! SANDY: I would like to cruise with you any time. I, also, love to laugh at myself. Looking forward to the photo. I guess the wine would not do too well in my vitamin bottles - might lose its essence. That is very generous of you to gift the Crewmember. Come on over to Princess. They don't care. Their pax drink enough at the bars and, as someone above said, "It is all about the Money [On-Board Revenue]." ;);):D;);)
kyriecat Posted January 28, 2010 #52 Share Posted January 28, 2010 That is absolutely disgraceful. No amount of RCI fanatics can condone this, surely. We don't buy a round for the table at dinner anymore. That was our anniversary and we had a GREAT table of 10 so wanted to celebrate. Plus we had a bit of OBC that cruise and figured "What the heck!" I didn't realize how closely the RC staff monitors the number of drinks that you buy. Usually 3 drinks each/day is the most we ever have so we don't have a problem with being cut off. They let us purchase drinks again the next evening so we weren't cut off for the whole cruise - just that one night.
MiamiSpartan Posted January 28, 2010 #53 Share Posted January 28, 2010 When we did Freedom a year ago, we brought 4 bottles of wine and a small bottle of Grey Goose...! Our room steward was nice enuf to ice the bottles down each night for us! (extra tip...):p
fumelkin Posted January 28, 2010 #54 Share Posted January 28, 2010 The ship will cut you off if they think you've bought too much alcohol. Hubby and I bought a couple rounds for our table one night for a celebration at dinner. When we tried to buy drinks in the Schooner Bar after dinner, we were denied. The waiter told us that we had bought 16 drinks in the past 2 hours and that was over the limit. Only 2 of those were mine and 3 beers were hubby's. Neither of us was drunk or even slightly tipsy. It didn't matter - no drinks for us. :( That is very true I was on the Mariner a few years ago with a large group I bought a few rounds of shots and drinks the server that was serving us in the viking lounge said you guys cannot buy anymore you have reached your limit! I was a little confused because we knew she knew who we were due to the fact she was our bar tender and we had frequently visited her throughout the week. I was also supprised because we always slipper her a little larger tip at the end of the day. But on to the storey there was only a few us buying drinks and none of use had more than 4 drinks with in the 2 hour frame. She stated it did not matter thats the rule. So we left and went to the casino lounge and they served us! Oh well her loss...
