Adults only pool???

Recommended Posts

Is there an adults only pool on the Epic? I see they advertise Spice H2O as an adult-only pool at night when it transforms into the night club, but what about during the day? Is it an adult-only pool? And if so, is there a "cover charge" to sit by the pool during the day since they seem to tout it as an all-day kinda club theme?

No cover planned at this time. It is an adults only pool during the day and at night the pool is covered to become a dance floor.

That's where it stands right now. Doubt there will be a cover for this, it's just an "adult only" area.

There were words about a cover for Posh above the courtyard, but that was the only area involved.

We're booked on the Epic in October, so probably not a ton of kids on board, but how well does NCL enforce adults only areas on other ships?

not sure how well NCL enforces the adults-only rule, but when i am there, damn straight i will be the first one to rat out any kids near the pool area. i can't stand kids being around me on vacation due to many parent's lack of desire to control their kids while on vacation. i WILL be the pool **** when i am in the adults only area, for sure! keep your kids away from adults only areas!!!!

LOL! Your "straightforwardness" is refreshing.

And I agree with you. It's funny to read parents comments on their own kids. How they're a perfect child.. yeah, right.

of course parents think they're kids are angels! so when on vacation, the parents sit back, relax, drink their booze and let their "little angels" scream, cry, run in between tables, splash others in the pool, bump into lounge chairs (with people sitting in them), and yet when we childless adults roll our eyes at the situation, WE'RE in the wrong, not the bratty kids.

i always ask for tables away from children in restaurants. what a shame parents are so blind to the inappropriate behaviors of their children, and don't stop to correct their children when they are interfering with the enjoyment of others around them. and when on vacation, it seems 158% worse. seems parents feel like when they are on vacation, that means they also get a vacation from disciplining their kids.

Wow, I bet you all get slammed!! LOL, I agree with the NO kids in the Adults only area. Thats always my favorite area on a ship. I hate when the kids get in the hot tubs and you can't just sit there and relax. I have kids who are (luckily) allllll grown up. I have a grandbaby who I hope to introduce to cruising in a few years but only when he is ready for the kids programs and he will not bother others. I have cruised with friends who took their kids and one time it was fine, the DD was very sweet and spent most of her time with the kid program. The other time was not so great to put it mildly. Kids don't belong at late seating and they don't belong in the upscale dining areas unless you can be seated with your kid in another area! Far away from other diners.

I sure hope they make the kids stay out of the adult only pool cause I know the people I am going with will not be pleased if they don't!:D

I would book on an adults only cruise in a minute!

We have 5 kids (all grown + coupled) 7 Grandkids (#8 arriving on 2/8) and when we go on vacation, we go to get a break from our own kids / grandkids....not to cozy up to other children - however cute / charming they may be!

Ever notice when you go out to dinner as a couple, hostesses always sit families right near you! <sigh> what are you going to do?

We always buy the spa pass....so that we can have a planned escape if necessary....and we try to cruise 'off season' for kids. Made a timing mistake one year... there were over 800 under 18 on board that trip! Hello spa...ahhhhhhh..... LOL

Not that we don't love kids (we have enough of our own!) But it is SOO nice to have a break for a week every year!!

LOL!!!

the only people that would "slam" me are parents who KNOW they let their kids misbehave!

and i am keeping fingers crossed that a family with kids doesn't get seated next to me during meals!!! i've usually found that if the kids are misbehaving while dining, politely asking the parents to tell the kids to settle down usually works. if not, then speaking very loudly about pretend wild sexual romps in full detail will shut the whole family up, or at least give them a hint to do so. let your kids ruin my meal? fine. i'll ruin yours. haha. immature, yes. but when dealing with parents who can't control their kids, immaturity is sometimes the only way to make a point. haha!!!!;)

It's called an adults only area for a reason - kids not welcome! I don't know why some people believe they are above the rules, and I could go off on a bunch of different tangents on that one, but I'll try to keep it on the adults only topic. Another place kids don't belong, yet some parents think it's ok, is in a casino.

DON'T even tell me kids go into the casinos???!!!!!

casinos should be 21 and over, regardless!!!!

as far as i am concerned, a casino is a place for me to get drunk & gamble. keep your snot-nosed brats away from casinos!!!!

it's really quite simple....the adults only pool on any cruise is fairly small, there is usually a much larger pool area and many more hot tubs that are NOT adult only. I don't see a single valid reason why kids need to be in adults only! I raised my kids who were very difficult no matter how hard I tried to discipline them, and now I don't want to deal with other peoples' kids. If I am in a "no-kids zone" there is a reason for that, and no one should be offended if something is said about kids there. But I guess when your kids are little you just assume everyone is as taken with them as you are!

speaking of hot tubs, i can't stand when parents allow their kids in them. most hot tubs clearly state there is an age limit for the hot tubs, yet parents let their little ones use it anyway. once in aruba, there were several little kids in a hot tub even though it stated you must be 17 or older to be in it. i asked the mother to tell her kids to get out, as it was not safe, and she told me to mind my own business. so i went to security, and told them, and when i came back with security (this was only like 3 minutes later) the little 6-year old boy was laying down next to the hot tub, his mother hovered over him. he fainted from the heat of the hot tub. so because she chose to allow her children to break the rules, her son passed out, and medical attention was needed on him. of course this woman was pissed off when medical services questioned why the small child was even in the hot tub......yet again a selfish parent thinking she was above the rules, and wouldn't accept blame on herself.:confused:

Well, it really is the responsibility of the cruise line to enforce the rules - not me and I don't especially relish the thought of getting into a confrontation with some thoughtless parent. Honestly, I never hesitate to refuse a table in a restaurant near kids if I'm not in the mood and I don't mind saying why. Now if they are seated near me after I'm there, then there isn't much I can do about it, but I have been known to say something to kids that don't behave - like the one kept hanging all over my back in a booth. I finally told the kid to turn around and sit down, which he did and the mother didn't say a word. And yes, I do like children and have taken 5 grandkids on cruises at different times, but adult areas should be adult areas - period.
