SmartShea Posted January 27, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2010 Hi again everyone!! I feel like a broken record with all my questions. I'm sorry! I am getting ready for my cruise on Liberty of the Seas and was wondering what type of currency I should bring. I am traveling to Labadee, Cozumel, Ocho Rios and Cayman Islands. I am planning to drink and gamble on board. Can i just bring US currency for gambling and drinks? Do all these stops accept credit cards and US currency? I know I could easily look all this up but I am sick! :( This cold better go home soon.
cruiseguy1016 Posted January 28, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2010 On the ship, you can use cash in the casino but all of your drinks will go on your Sea Pass. Cash is only used in the casino. All other places use the Sea Pass for purchases. All of the ports that you are going to will accept U.S. currency. Most accept credit cards. tahoemc Posted January 28, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2010 If you use room service, you may want to bring some $1 bills for tipping.

bilyclub Posted January 29, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 29, 2010 Can I get cash using my Sea Pass in the casino? How much do they charge? Thanks. They add a 3% surcharge to get cash from the casino.
cb at sea Posted January 29, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2010 all of the Caribbean ports (and Mexican) take American dollars...gladly.
mysparky Posted January 29, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 29, 2010 and one other note on using credit cards while in port - many, but not all, credit cards apply a surcharge (i.e. 3%-5%) on international purchases. If you have more than one card, you may want to see which has the lowest fee, prior to your departure.
PattyG12 Posted January 29, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 29, 2010 I forgot about that charge last time. It hit hard when I got home. I plan to pay with cash at ports.
