Question about Beds

This is our first O cruise and it states we have a choice of a queen or two twin beds. Do they just push the two twins together if you choose a queen bed and have them separated if you choose two twins? I thought two twins together was a king size bed.

Thank you!

Ours was made up as a queen without our asking.

Yes, our documents state that all beds will automatically be configured as queen size unless otherwise requested prior to departure. I was just a little confused because usually two twins pushed together equals a king size. But Marebear said they are very narrow twins. Hopefully, they put something between them to fill in the gap.:)

Each bed is 30" wide and when put together, it makes a 60" wide queen size bed. We have never felt or experienced the division between the two beds on any cruise line we have travelled with.

Sleep well!!

If you have a problem speak to housekeeping I am sure they must have a fix

My friend Lyn is correct, as always. There is a, I believe that the technical word for it would be contraption, which straps the two mattreses together, and fills in the gap.

twin-bed-connector-319484.jpg<--lol, I just learned that it is called a converter.

In the event that that fix does not make you happy, the ship carries a limited number of single mattresses which will cover the two box springs.

In response to your "king versus queen" question, I believe that the narrower twin beds convert to a queen in all staterooms up to a Penthouse, on all four ships.

In Oceania, Vista & Owners Suites, two regulation sized twin beds may convert into a true king sized bed.

On our cruise, the bed was made as a queen. I am a light sleeper and prone to be uncomfortable (if it is not a good bed) and my husband is 6' 4". The bed on Insignia was GREAT. No problems what so ever. We both slept very well. I thought the bed was very comfortable

That is great to hear! We are kind of spoiled by our king size Tempurpedic. :)

And, we're spoiled by our king size Sleep Number bed, to the point where we were dismayed by our beds in a Sky suite on Celebrity Mercury (I said too soft, and Betsy said too hard), but we have always been comfortable in the Oceania bed.
