Ramses Tours in Egypt: We have been working with them and are VERY HAPPY with Ramses. They will tailor your tours and happily work with you on your specific needs. Their prices are remarkable. We know a lot of people who have used Ramses and also recommend them. We recommend them to everyone!

I must say in relation to the above regarding Ramses tours.....they may be alot cheaper than the American cruise lines charges for Egyptian tours...but Thomson charge £80 for the long day excursions in Egypt and they are absolutely excellent...Royal Caribbean wanted £120 for equivalent trips on our cruise last year !!!! This time we did Memphis, the Step Pyramid, the tombs and Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, lunch in a Movenpick resort .....and of course the papyrus institute!! alll for £80 ! We had an excellent Egyptologist guide who was very knowledgeable.....

So think hard before booking elsewhere it is a long way to go from Port Said about 3 hours travelling in escorted convoy...and I personally would not want to risk missing the ship which leaves at 2000...they will only wait for 'official' tours!

Hi Jenny,

For what it's worth I just want to agree with you. Last june We were in Alexandria with Royal Caribbean and they wanted the same as Jenny quotes for Pyramids, Sphinx, Cairo Museum and the dreaded papyrus institute. And Thomson's at the time were asking just over £70 for identical excursion.

And we didn't get an Egyptologist just a normal tour guide.

Is this a good trip jenny wren? We went to the museum last year and would love to go again, but we also want to see the Step Pyramid and Rameses. I just cannot wait to get back to Egypt :)

Hi legogirl...Yes it was an excellent trip....we had no complaints at all...we went to Memphis and Sakkara with plenty of information coming from our Egyptologist and lots of photo opportunities then we had lunch in a Movenpick resort hotel ...then off to the Giza pyramids and sphinx with a stop at the Papyrus institute (good opportunity for a decent loo !!) before heading back to the ship.

We have previously been to Giza and the Museum which was why we chose this particular trip and we were not disappointed !!

I asked the manager at the Destination Services desk onboard the ship why they had dropped Syria from the itinerary and was told that Syrian immigration request all passengers passport details A WEEK before arrival in port and Thomsons are not able to comply with that.
