tcook052 Posted January 15, 2011 #27 Share Posted January 15, 2011 Luckily it's doing W. Caribbean the week I'm sailing so it should be nowhere near St. Thomas: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/cruiseDetails/itinerary.do;jsessionid=0000b_g-AcgwWYh08ukFmKZ-OBt:15lbbpnkd?packageCode=AL07W044&sailDate=1110130 Thank goodness. VioletHorse Posted January 15, 2011 #30 Share Posted January 15, 2011 Not safe? I've got some time after a shore excursion which will likely drop me at the ship and wanted to explore Charlotte Amalie myself and printed a self-guided walking tour from the tourism authority to do so. Should I ask the shore ex. operator to see if they could drop me in town for a tip? If it matters the tour is the Champage snokel & catamaran to St. John and runs for approx 4 hours from 8:15 when we dock and I would have approx 4 hours on my own to explore. DH and I did that excursion in November 2009. The tour operator was more than willing to let us off in downtown Charolotte Amelie, however we would have to take a taxi back to Crown Bay. We had planned on doing that but it started to rain heavily when we were returning so we opted to go directly back to the ship (it's no fun walking around in a downpour). Enjoy St. Thomas! tcook052 Posted January 16, 2011 #31 Share Posted January 16, 2011 Enjoy St. Thomas! Thanks I hope to as this Canadian winter has been brutal with snow up to the rafters and frigid temperatures. I'll just be thawed out by St. Thomas and it's halfway through the week. :D I use jtl513's photo with folks to remind them of what big really means when discussing cruise ship size. Size matters, after all.
