Embarkation

Going on Emerald Princess in August. Anybody know what ships leave on summer Sundays from Fort Lauderdale? Also a few other questions-

Best time to arrive to the pier to board as early as possible (and with least line)?

Drop bags off before dropping off rental car?

Thanks!

You want to board as early as possible with the shortest line. Sorry, but early will mean a line. To avoid a line arrive after 2pm or so.

We dropped the bags, drove to the airport to return the rental car and then took the free rental car shuttle to the pier.

Arriving after 2 pm will mean you do not have full use of the ship on the first paid-for day. We have always arrived between 10:30 and 11:30, and been onboard shortly thereafter.

Our embarkation of Emerald last year was efficient and well organized. We were onboard shortly after noon, and were allowed to go straight to our cabin (something RCI does not permit). It was wonderful.

Here's the scoop: basically, anytime you arrive there is the potential for a line and a wait. Make the best of it, have a little patience, don't complain, and enjoy every moment of the cruise experience.

Hey, you're not at work! :p

  • 2 weeks later...

Does it matter if we are the first time Princess cruiser? We will take Sapphire for 7-day Alaska RT from Seattle, but we don't know when would be the earliest possible time for us to board. Our flight will arrive Seattle airport around 10:25, and I am assuming going to port directly shouldn't be too early?

Thanks,

Scott
