Which Day Pass???

Awesome, thanks a lot for the quick response! We're definitely looking forward to our day at Sandals. :D

You'll love it. There are lots of lunch options. There's a buffet and there's also a pizza oven and a restaurant near the beach with good burgers, sandwiches. You can even order your food to go and take it to the beach or pool. The beach is smallish. There is a private island but be aware that the ferry only goes back and forth every hour. There are two pools with swim up bars - one is quieter than the other. Wish I was there! :)

We will be in Nassau mid of August and probably will be doing the Sheraton day pass. For lunch, can we just walk over the Wyndham and eat at the lunch buffet? Anyone knows the price for the Wyndham lunch buffet (adults and 11 yrs old kid) ?

the Buffet at the wyndham is indoors at the seaside cafe.. near the casino. It's open to the public. I believe it's runs around $22/ $24pp. I don't believe there are kid's pricing, except kids under 3 are free.

it also does not include alcohol..

We were just at the Sheridan last week and it was a great day! The beach was gorgeous.......water was so clear and no waves so very calm - I believe it's on Cable Beach. It was $25/person for the day pass. You can use all their pools (I saw 3) plus you can use the pool at the Wyndam as well. The Wnydam pool had a swim up bar. I believe that the non motorized water toys were also included but we didn't use them. Threre is a bar and a restaurant on the beach plus other places to eat inside. Oh yeah, you don't have to lug the ship towels with you because they provide them for you as wel and they are the nice big ones that cover the entire chair. We stayed at the beach most of the day but at the end of the day we went in the pool too.

A taxi driver wanted $20 to take us to the Sheridan. We walked to the bus depot and took a bus for $1.25 each. They call them jittneys (they are small buses) and they run every 15 minutes so it was very easy to catch one back into town as well. We had a great time in Nassau.

Scubagirl thanks for all great info will be in nassau Oct 7, 2010. What is considered peak season?? Any trouble getting day pass at Hilton then??

Starting the end of August thru the second week in December is off season in the bahamas, with the exception of Thanksgiving week. It's also hurricane season til November.

You shouldn't have any trouble getting Hilton passes. I believe they are now $60pp at the door... and include a $30 food voucher. This may change in the off season.. we shall see.

I emailed BCH about day passes. The return email said they were $55 with a $40 food and beverage voucher. Island Marketing is advertising them for $50 with a $30 f&b voucher. I asked about the last week of July. Island Marketing also said they could adjust the time frame. We are on the Monarch of the Seas which doesn't get in until noon. She said she could make our passes noon until 8 p.m.

What good does that do. The bar closed at 5pm and the pool closed just after that, around 6. The property will be empty by 6:30pm. Chairs stacked etc. Everyone headed to their rooms to get ready for dinner.

They are not doing you any favors.

Once you are on the property, you can stay as long as you want. But the food service and bar will be closed. You could, I'm sure go in and have a drink at the bar, but if you're with kids, that would be very awkward.

It's still not a bad deal from 1ish til the pools close.

I did not know you could do a day pass for Sandals in Nassau. Does anyone know anything about that or the price? I am kind of going between Breezes, Sandals (if it is an option) or Atlantis Aquaventure. I would appreciate any feedback. I think Atlantis would be fun but seems expensive. It is just me and husband going. We love to do adventurous things as well as have quite a few cocktails so not really sure what would be the best option for us! Thanks!

Are the beaches at and around Sheraton & Wyndham resorts in Cable Beach strictly private? I was wondering if I cannot get a day pass, if it will be possible to hang out for a while at a public beach area in the vicinity before heading back (I realize I won't have access to restrooms etc)

Thanks.

Here's a question I haven't seen asked yet - is there parasailing at any of these resorts and, if so, any idea how much it goes for (single and tandom)? Thanks in advance (I'm leaning towards either the Sheraton or Junkanoo Beach).

We were just there and if I remember right, the only way to get to the beach is thru the hotel. There's no reaon why they wouldn't give you a day pass..it's a very large area with plenty of chairs. We reallly enjoyed the day there and I think it being private made it even better. I would go there again if ever in Nassau. The beach was lovely and we also used their pools.

I was just curious after reading some of the comments about the day passes. We just booked our pass for the Wyndham thru Carnival as an excursion to eliminate some hassle. I saw that the Wyndham day pass doesn't include alcohol, but does anyone know if the pass thru Carnival is slightly different and does include it?

Not familiar with the particulars of Carnivals day pass but I can tell you that anytime you book an excursion through any cruise line it will cost you more than doing it on your own. Getting back and forth between the pier and the Cable Beach resorts is easy.

Thank you Scuba Girl for so many details. DH & I have been to Nassau many times, and now we are travelling with our family of eleven in a couple of weeks. Some of the family are interested in spending the day at the Atlantis Water Park -- is the $110 pass available at the hotel?

Do you know what the current fare is for a mini-van over to Atlantis? Would think it would be negotiable if it would hold all of us?

Thanks again . . .

Note: Saturday cruise dates in May for Carnival Fascination out of Jacksonville offered the Atlantis Aquaventure w/Lunch @ $149.95 adult & $121.95 child. "Tour" includes R/T transportation, the water park, swimming pool and beach.

OK, So I will be cruising in October on the Carnival Dream and will be porting in Nassau from about 8 -2. We have two girls, ages 5 & 9. Any suggestions? Would you recommend a beach or just walking through Atlantis on our own, or something else? Also, what about the aquarium in Atlantis?

The only thing we know for sure is we want to do just a little shopping.

Wow........that's not a very long time to be there. I think because of the little amount of time I'd look into a ship excursiion. We were there from early morning until 7 pm so we spent the day at the Sheraton on Cable Beach and then walked around town and did some shopping.

There aren't many free beaches in Nassau. Usually it's best to get a day pass at a hotel and use their beach. But with such a short time in port, it probably wouldn't be worth it.

You could go to Paradise Island and either spend a couple of hours at Cabbage Beach (free) or go to the aquarium at Atlantis ($35 for adults, not sure about kids). If you leave Atlantis by 11 - 11:30, you should have time left for some shopping along Bay Street before you have to head back to the ship. I'd definitely take a regular taxi and not the water taxi to Paradise Island since you're short on time.

Or if you want to stay in town, you could visit one of the forts, the Pirate Museum or Ardastra Gardens and Zoo. All of those would be affordable and leave time for shopping.

My sister and I will be traveling w/ our 16 year old daughters to Nassau in 2 weeks via Carnival Destiny. Without spending alot of money, but yet allowing the girls a great time, which beach would you all recommend? Would like something all inclusive if possible?

Our first cruise!

We are going on our first cruise the first part of December (11th). We will be in Nassau from Noon-10pm. Would like to do a "beach day" and was looking at BCH. However, being newbies, just wondering if December is a good time for a beach day and if so, is it worth it to do the day pass even though we probably wouldn't get there until 1ish?

Thanks for any input!!

I think everything closes there at 5 pm but not positive. We did the Sheridan Beach Pass for $25/person and we had a great time. The beach is lovely and there are a bunch of pools you can also use. The $25 also gets you a beach chair and a nice very large beach towel. it does not include any food which was fine with us........honestly, we didn't even eat lunch (weren't hungry) but we did sit at the outside bar and had a drink each. I'd rather it not include food because we don't always eat lunch anyway. A big breakfast and then an afternoon snack is all we really need and our snack is usually when we get back to the ship because we have late seating and just need something to hold us over till then.

I don't recall there being a closing time. You can also use the pool at the Wyndam which is right next door. I also saw snorkeling trips going out from their beach if you wanted to do some snorkeling. They had non motorized toys that I think were also included in the $25 fee but not sure since we didn't use them. Someone else here might be able to tell you if they are included. We loved the day we spent there and would go there again if in Nassau again. The beach is Cable Beach.
