Wow. I found that movie "startling" (to say the least) when I knew what I was getting into. I can't imagine your surprise.

Had we known anything about Caligula, I would never have rented it, I was probably 23 at the time and pretty naive.:o It was very startling, but once we got over our initial WTH response we could just NOT watch it lol.

.....I hope they have the show on the Freedom. This way I can be the responsible father and while the topless show is going on, explain to my son what life is about.

wasiii

Thanks for the best laugh I've had today!!!!!!

My thinking is that if you choose to bring your children to an R-rated show, then it's your own fault if they see things you don't want them to see.

I can't see for the life of me why parents bring their kids to any R-rated show. I've seen Quest on ships where the game show was advertised as Adults Only repeatedly and some parents still insist upon bringing their young kids there. How many times do they have to be told Adults only? Several times the parents were told no children were allowed and yet they refused to remove them. Then, they complained later about the shows. Geez!

Since the thread has already gone WAY off topic:

DH loves anything regarding ancient cultures (Egyptian, Greek, etc) when we first signed up for Netflix, I went through and added lots of documentaries with out reading all of their descriptions. Imagine our surprise when 'Caligula' came in the mail...we popped the DVD in and it was a Penthouse production from the 70's...thankfully, if was just the two of us and no friends were over. :o It was insanely entertaining lol

My aunt and uncle (Who live in Holland) had this playing on their TV when I was there in 1980 (I was 16 at the time, brother 17, sisters 14 and 12 and their kids were 13, 10 and 8), only one to bat an eye was my mom, everyone else was glued to the TV.

The family that watches porn together.... ok even I can't finish that one. :D

:eek: Lmao, I actually found it intriguing but was questioning whether or not DH would think I was insane....he did not.:p

Thanks for the spoiler, I guess I'll it off my netflix list now.

 That's funny! You must be in the .05% of people who do not know how this movie ends. It was all people wanted to talk about when it came out (almost 20 years ago!) It was a BIG SHOCKER then  ... Not so much anymore!

;)

Ok, I'm curious ... if an "R Rated French Burlesque" show is NOT topless, what makes it R rated? (just the language?) Like another poster on here (forgot who) I don't have a problem with nudity (unless they are simulating a sexual act ... but just dancing is NOT a sexual act - you know what I mean ;) ) BUT I do have a problem with language and "blue" comedy. (Yes, I love comedians ... but I think some of the funniest comedians are the ones who are creative enough that they can be funny without resorting to the F bomb or discussing sexual positions etc.

That's Just Me ... I would never put someone down for having a different view. I just like the fact that they warn you and I have a choice. It would be stupid to avoid a cruise line (I am sure they provide plenty of entertainment I would enjoy!) Plus, I would think other cruise lines would have about the same.

....

It's probably held at midnight for that reason. Burlesque is an art if it's done right. I would love to see an old fashion production like that - and boobs don't offend me either - except when I look in the mirror and see what gravity & age has done to mine

Amen, sista!;):o

Because it makes most straight men squirm in their seats.

Gay ones too I'd imagine.

You all have me cracking up :D

I find it hard to believe also. With that being said, I hope I'm wrong and we get a topless show on the Fascination next week! :D

I am still hoping we "hit" one of these shows. While the old addage "if you've seen one, you've seen them all" may still hold true, we enjoy playing "real or not real" when presented with the opportunity! It has literally turned into a family sport:D

It seems Carnival is trying to change it's image. My daughter and I went to the illusionist show after dinner (8:30 pm). The show was extremely racy (burlesque style) with many dancers bending over showing their backsides (having thongs on).

I have been cruising Carnival since 1991 and have cruised 17 times with them and every one of those shows I went to they wore thongs. Perhaps you have cruised other cruislines or not attended these shows prior but I have always seen them like this. No image change here.
