Bloemerl Posted November 28, 2006 #3355 Share Posted November 28, 2006 For you future travelers on the sun, you might be well off to pack a light sweater to keep you warm in the lounges. Seems to be very chilly in there with just a golf shirt on, For the golfers, Mahogany Run in St Thomas is fantastic ! We went with 16 people from the ship and had a great time. What a view as you play the 3 holes on the side of the ocean.

Shogun Posted December 2, 2006 #3361 Share Posted December 2, 2006 Hi There, Doing the New Year on the Sun have been on this class of ship before, if the weather is bad is there an inside movie screen, do they show movies during the day or only at night. Felt a bit silly sitting in the riain on the Sea watching the movie but after 2 hours I was not going to miss the end. Understand Casino on Sun is bigger than Sea if so how many slot machines, do they have any of the 25 dollar ones. Last time on board wife won all the slot compertitions do not ask me how she did it got four t shirts for our trouble and some money. yours Shogun

The pictured one is a deck above C744. Her posting is http://travel.webshots.com/album/549336516kSsAyD. Maybe this will give you a feel for what your cabin would be like. I have read that alot of the ships were offering these classes but haven't actually read anything from anyone that has actually been to one of the classes. Thanks & Happy Cruising..... jsiegel Posted December 7, 2006 #3369 Share Posted December 7, 2006 My sister is currently on the final leg of a b2b Sun Princess cruise. While watching her progress through the Caribbean on the bridge cam I noticed that usually immediately after sunset they turn the bridge cam to face the ship. I sent my sister a picture and asked her to see if she could find the location. She did. This is how she describes how to get there: I stand on the 15th level. You can't take the elevator up there; go the the stairs outside the buffet on level 14 and walk up one flight. head towards the head of the ship. stand in the middle of the head of the ship, with your back against the windows that look down on the buffet. We arranged in advance for her to be there while I was on my computer and I was able to capture this picture. This picture was taken about 1 1/2 hours after sunset. I couldn't get ahold of her by email before then to get a better picture with more sunlight. She hasn't figured out that the Princess Patter lists the sunset time. I've got a great picture of the area nice and bright, but no sister. When they first turn the camera it's so clear that you can see the chaise lounges behind the glass wall (shallow pool area) So, future Sun roll calls, how about a group gathering with someone at home getting the group picture? Whirlybird Posted December 8, 2006 #3372 Share Posted December 8, 2006 Am on the 10 day Sun Princess sailing that left Ft. Lauderdale on 11/30. On Wednesday, ship had a norovirus outbreak, it got worse yesterday but has stabilized today. Captain implemented procedures to limit spread of the virus yesterday morning and announced today these will remain in place for remainder of cruise. I don't know how many have been infected, but a cabin three doors down from mine is under quarantine. The rules include not being able to serve any food to yourself, the staff must do this in all dining areas. I have really been impressed with the attitude of the staff under the circumstances and how responsive they have been in trying to limit spread of the virus. Otherwise a very nice and enjoyable cruise. Weather was overcast first couple of days then much sunnier until the day in port at Martinique where it was overcast all day. Today is a sea day and weather is sunny and hot. Serivce in dining areas has slipped a bit since my DW and I took this same cruise last November, out of 8 nights in the main dining room for dinner so far, we would rate the service as excellent 3 nights and average to poor 5 nights. Perhaps the service is less than usual due to ill crew - this would seem to be a possibility. So sorry about the illness. Hope it all clears up quickly. Stay well, and enjoy the last few days of your cruise.
elou Posted December 8, 2006 #3374 Share Posted December 8, 2006 So sorry to hear people are sick. Any idea how many? Since we are cruising Sunday, I wonder if they are going to sanitize ship before boarding or even cancel cruise. Stay well yourself. Sure wish sick people would stay home. This particular virus is usually caused by pax - not washing hands often enough, especially after using the facilities. It is a very good idea to always use the sanitizers which are placed about the ship.
