Post your favorite cruise moment

:) Haven't seen a thread like this and thought I'd share and see what everyone else has to say.

On any cruise you have taken, what has been your favorite experience? Mine was actually one of those unplanned things. On our cruise on the Glory for our 10th anniv. in 2005, our planned snorkeling excursion in St. Thomas got cancelled, so we ended up going to Coral World. We didn't have the best time there, but it gave us enough time to take the skyride up the mountain near the cruise terminal. We timed it just right so that we were up on top of the mountain at sunset with a drinks in our hands and an absolutely amazing view. Just one of those moments that you think "it just doesn't get any better than this." I think I could have stayed on St. Thomas forever.

Anyone else had one of those unplanned adventures they'd like to share?

It wasnt unplanned but my best cruise experience was spending a relaxing day on Orient Beach in St. Maarten with my family. It was truly a beautiful day that i will always remember. The sky was the most beautiful blue and the ocean was an even prettier shade of aqua. The drinks were freshly made cantaloupe daiquiris and the soft sand under our toes. Awesome day!!!

Mine was likely less wonderful than most of the above, however here it is.

My second cruise, but my first Carnival cruise, also my first solo cruise, ( Carnival Sensation ), I was standing on an upper deck during sail away, out of Tampa, and was quite terrified at the thought of going to the dining room, and meeting up with strangers who I would be dining with for the rest of the week.

I thought quite seriously of skipping dinner the first night, but knew if I didnt go first night, I wouldnt go for the duration of the cruise, so I gathered up all my nerve and went.

Best cruise moment, within minutes of arriving at my table of 8, I quickly realised that all , yes every single one of those folks were so wonderful, I could not have picked a better group! After that first night, I looked forward to seeing them all at dinner time, and made some friends who I am still in touch with 10 years later.:)

Mine was being on a cruisecritic roll call and meeting a couple named Brad and Tammy. Brad asked that everyone go to the karaoke show to watch Tammy sing cuz she wanted to be in the legend show. Well knowing that could be hit or miss, when we got on the ship we went to check this out and I was telling everyone around about this "Tammy woman." When she showed up and finally got on stage I was really waiting for this really good karaoke singer. She started to sing and was doing this Whitney Houston song, " the greatest love of all," and when she hit those high notes the crowd noticed how good she really was and by the end she had a standing ovation 10 notes before the song was done. Than both her and Brad got up and did an Ike and Tina Turner version of "proud mary." She got up and whispered '' we like to do things nice and slow," then they sang it nice and slow and Brad was doing the low Ike Turner voice in the background, and then all of a sudden they erupted into " I got a good job in the city, workin for the man every night and day," and really put on a show and had everyone within earshot standing and clapping. This was one of my most memorable moments, not only on a cruise at karaoke but ever in my life.

My favorite would have to be when I cruised with my ex-wife and a friend of mine. It was the three of us, my two kids, my niece, and my friends daughter. Well, our first port of call was Key West. The adults all decided to leave the kids on the ship and do a pub crawl. At the first bar we ran into a couple from the ship who decided to do the pub crawl as well. After a lot of bars, a lot of laughs with tears, we decided we better start heading back to the ship to make sure we made it back on time but not before heading into some shops to do some shopping. Somehow, someway, I got separated from the group but made it back to the ship on time. The couple we met up with on the pub crawl also made it back. Now my friend and my ex were not back and it was like 5 min. past the time to leave. Before I know it, it's 10 minutes past the time to leave...15....20....25..I'm starting to freak out because I'm thinking I'm going to be the only adult with 4 kids all week. Don't get me wrong, I love kids, but on vacation, I only want to take care of my own. Then at 30 minutes past the time to leave, here comes my friend and my ex stumbling on the ship. The cruise staff was like, you must be so and so(calling them by their names), you're the last two to return. Thank god the ship was having an issue and was like an hour late leaving port. Apparently, my friend and ex thought the rest of us were still shopping so they stopped at another bar to have a drink(or two)waiting for us to pass so they could walk back with us. Little did they know we were all back on the ship. Anyway, that fun day turned into a great week with some new friends. We still talk and laugh about that day.

I've only cruised once. In January 2010, when my two long-time friends and I (all cruise virgins) went on board the Sensation, we went straight to the Lido deck, got a DOD, and sat down. I realized at that moment that we 3 gals deserved to be exactly where we were.

During the last 25 years, we've weathered a lot of storms. Marriage, divorce, drugs, financial woes, serious health issues, losing friends and loved ones...the list goes on and on. But we've always managed to stay friends and to be there to hold each other's head above water when the going got rough. The previous year had taken an especially hard toll, with all of losing an important loved one.

BUT in that moment, on the Lido deck with drink in hand, we were on top of the world! And it felt great!

cheesy as it is, my fondest memory of cruising, which happened on both my previous cruises, was daily ice cream with my dad. the first, as a teen, and then the second cruise as a new mom, able to just take time to appreciate family.

I'm pretty lucky, in that I seem to have a "memorable moment" on almost every cruise, but the latest was aboard "Miracle" last month, when I participated in the "Showcase of Stars" passengers talent show. I sang the Harry Connick Jr. version of "It Had To Be You", and got not only a standing ovation, but loud and persistent calls for an encore. Even the C.D. was speechless, and didn't quite know how to handle the event. It made the entire cruise for me. It was truly a moment to remember. If you happened to be aboard,,,THANK YOU! :D

Oh, no wait a minute, sailing into Sitka Alaska in the fog - Celebrity,

On no wait a minute, I could never choose - they are all so darn special....

How do you chose??

1. The first time we walked on a ship and the priceless looks on my kids faces ( 6 &12)

My ds (6) crying because he wanted to take the waiter home at the end of the cruise...

2. Swimming with the sting rays with my kids..

3. Hiking into the jungle and swimming in the waterfall..

4. Our first New Years Cruise at midnight with my 2 kids hugging me and wishing me Happy New Years (14 & 20) This is my most prized picture of the 3 of us!

I just couldn't imagine putting a finger on one. Agreed there have been so many!

I have loved every cruise and will no doubt love all upcoming cruises. One of my favorite moments was when I was in Nassau with my three year old granddaughter. We had only been in town about a half hour when she turned to me with a look of disgust on her face[i guess she wasn't too impressed with Nassau] and said" grandma, I just want to go back to MY BOAT! We had to drag her off the ship every port after that-didn't like leaving HER BOAT!

For me this is easy.

December 26th, 2003 (Boxing day!).

On the Disney Magic, the last night at sea.

In the lobby they had all the characters out and it was packed.

Music was playing, and kids were crowding around all the Princesses.

I looked over and there was Minnie Mouse, standing all alone.

I walked over and asked her to dance.

She and I waltzed around the lobby and the crowds parted, like in a movie.

It was something I'll never forget.

Kinda corny, maybe, but that's my moment.

Walking on to the Disney Wonder, a single mom with my 3 kids, at the time they were 14,12 and 6, and we were on the trip of a life time. We were in complete awe of the size of the atrium and the beautiful decor. The moment absolutely couldn't be duplicated.

So many wonderful memories of that trip like getting to our room and discovering our OV was upgraded to a balcony, our first snorkeling experience ever was at Castaway Caye, parasailing, pirate night...

But the memory that will bring a tear to my every time (yep there it is)was a simple night when my oldest couldn't sleep. We stood on the balcony for 2 hours at 1AM watching a lightning storm off in the distance, birds playing along the balconies, talking and just feeling blessed that we had this opportunity.

Well, we fell in love with cruising and I was able to pull together another "trip of a life time" last year on Carnival and it was absolutely AMAZING too. But nothing will ever top that first cruise!

My ds (6) crying because he wanted to take the waiter home at the end of the cruise...

We took my niece on her first cruise in November and she STILL talks about Rudy, our waiter. I don't know what we'll do on the next one when she realizes there is no Rudy. She even asked me, before my last cruise, if I was going to see him.

My favorite cruise moment (only been on one) wouldnt be appropriate to share on the internet, my wife would kill me :o

Lol, the way you make it sound, there were more people involved than just your wife?

I've also have only been on one cruise...For the cruise itself, it was simply getting our luggage which was filled with liquor...Wife and I were hardcore partyers and were somewhat disappointed by the lack of what we consider partying within the clubs and bars after dinner...

Knowing both the luggage made it overall and with booze was nice. Off the cruise it was Grand Cayman, the port, swimming with the string rays and rum pointe beach... :)

What a nice thread!!

I went on my first cruise when I was in the 8th grade and it was 1998. I went with my parents and their friends. It was on the CCL Fantasy out of Port Canaveral. The whole cruise was amazing to me! The thing I remember most was our waiter Monday (sp? pronounced maw-day). He made a ring for me out of a dollar bill. I still have it!

I'm going back to the bahamas on my second cruise in March of 2011 with my girlfriends and I cannot wait to see how things are going to be different.
