Royal gives Park West the boot

Recommended Posts

Are some of you really that naive?

You actually believe RC made this decision only so passengers will get the centrum solely for their own use?

I just reread the entire thread and can't find a single person making the argument you are accusing people being "naive" for believing. People are stating that this is a reason why they're happy for the departure of Park West.

I'm not sure why you're eager to start a fight here...

Yeah! More room to move around the ship. Those darn paintings just kept getting in my way. Especially on sea days when the seas were rough and I couldn't walk straight. And no I was not drunk. I only drink one glass of wine at dinner. And maybe every other day, one drink of the day.

read the following:

Thank you for putting into words what I was trying to say. I hated having to circumvent the centrum or being denied a quiet corner of a lounge because of the faux art displays and the noise of the auctioneer.

no argument, just stating the obvious...;)

well, if you believe the centrum will be free of any type of sales from now on, than can I interest you in some prime Florida real estate deals?.....;)

Yeah, I reread your post and got it the second time, revised my response.

There will always be something to sell, but I doubt it will be the size of about a hundred 3'x5' montrosities on easels.

If I were a betting man, I would not bet against that.

Actually Art seems to be waiting just around the corner.

but personally I wish it was Victoria Secret's Angels displaying the latest in lingerie fashions for our beautiful partners.... :D

In that case, I would not avoid bumping in to them like I did the art. ;):D

Hooray, I hated looking at all those damaged frames, and "not so original art pieces". I was always surprised that the limited editions were available on all the ships over so many years.

Was that not common sense, Chip, I love it!

and if that were the case, we probably wouldn't need the cheap champagne either:D

and in the evening, at the nightclub, the angels had to do a 15 minute slow dance, in their outfits, with the 10 lucky bingo winners.

Wait! I think I'm on to something here

RC, are you listening??? ;)

Cool! I've never cruised RCI before, but I'm liking them already if they're going to get rid of the art auctions. I think they're a waste of space - and yes I do realize that the ships are big, but just because they're big doesn't mean the art auctions were not a waste of space for my purposes, just like the casinos are. I know many people enjoy the casinos though, so I wouldn't want to deprive them of their favorite spots, but I think I've only spoken to two people who enjoyed the art auctions.

really? you can't find another (prime real estate) spot for 2 hours on a 1000 foot long ship with 12-14 decks? Can we consider the rip off spa area a prime real estate spot if it wasn't a spa. Few thousand Sq. Ft. in the aft area of the ship with beautiful views? and it's there 24/7....

and ultimately, you really believe RC is going to give up revenue by not substituting PW?

Whether or not I can find some other place is beside the point, sometimes I like to sit in the Centrum, and sometimes when I would like to do that, it's taken up by the auction and that's part of why I care.

No, I would not consider the Spa prime real estate, at least not the area where they give treatments, and it's in the bow.

I'm sure RCI will try to make up the revenue somehow, but if they're using Art Actually on Oasis as their model, it's more of a studio. Maybe, they'll put it in the Spa. :)

On the Grandeur, it's aft, with some of the most beautiful views possible

We can debate this issue all day long, but let's be honest. Using small part of the ship for couple of hours for some sort of activity that you don't agree with really bothers you? That is the weakest argument I have heard so far.

I didn't want to see or be part of the pool area "best legs" or whatever contest, so should I complain? After all, I paid good money for the cruise, I wanted to enjoy the pool side (peacefully), but for couple of hours a day I needed to leave because I didn't want any part of what was about to happen.

Shouldn't the pool area be considered prime real estate on a ship?

You asked why I cared, I answered you. The fact that for you their use of the Centrum is inconsequential, does not invalidate my reason for me. Also, I expect that there are people who would prefer the best legs/belly flop contests be eliminated.

I believe it was you that questioned my post. I thought we were having an honest debate and at the end I posed a simple question.

And that's the best reply you have?

Have a great day!

For whatever reason RCL is giving them the boot-I don't care. I'm just glad they are doing so. The "art" did take up too much room on the smaller ships, like on the Grandeur where they spread it all around the Centrum so that you could not enjoy the space. And it was actually quite dangerous in all the places that they would park it. I actually saw one "art" piece topple over on a guest in the Navigator Concierge Lounge, striking her on the head. And she was sent to the infirmary.

Now if they could get rid of the casino, bingo, overpriced wine packages, gold by the inch, coffe bars that charge, on-board jewerly, drink of the day in a souvenier glass, shore excursions and all other aspects that might interest a selection of cruisers onboard. Then a cruise would be perfect I guess.
