sho Posted May 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2010 Can I request champagne to be stocked in my suite? What brand of champagne is usually provided? Moet available?
endosunshine Posted May 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2010 Can I request champagne to be stocked in my suite? What brand of champagne is usually provided? Moet available? You can request anything. If they do not have a certain brand available, they will tell you they are sorry and give you other options. They will have more than one brand available of nearly everything.:)
conchyjoe Posted May 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2010 I have never seen Moet served aboard. The champagne of choice for a long time, was Pommery which (as of last November) was readily available but was not the champagne generally being left in suites upon boarding. My DW, who is the champagne expert says non-vintage Pommery is generally better than non-vintage Moet on six days out of seven with a 5% error rate. But after two bottles, who can tell the difference ! ;-) I'm not sure that I would describe Silverseas suites as having a "mini-bar", it's more like a "maxi-bar" if you wish. Purely a matter of personal taste. I prefer Moet Brut Imperial to Pommery, however Moet is not available on Silversea as a complimentary.
NJ Cruiserman Posted May 12, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2010 May be slightly off topic, but do the mini-bar refrigerators on the Silver Wind have freezer compartments?
endosunshine Posted May 13, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 13, 2010 No, I don't think that they do.
duct tape Posted May 13, 2010 #7 Share Posted May 13, 2010 I prefer PJ, Perrier Jouet, ther is always some to be found!
TheFerret Posted May 13, 2010 #8 Share Posted May 13, 2010 I don't remember a freezer compartment, but your ice bucket is refreshed twice a day. Or more, if needed.
unfathomable Posted May 13, 2010 #9 Share Posted May 13, 2010 I have never seen Moet served aboard.Moet used to be the standard (only?) complimentary champagne, but that was quite a while ago. Personally, I don't like Pommery, but an alternative is usually available.
Rare Silver Spectre Posted May 13, 2010 #10 Share Posted May 13, 2010 Can I request champagne to be stocked in my suite? What brand of champagne is usually provided? Moet available? They recently moved to Drappier as the default brand, i.e. in bars and in the suites as part of the welcolm aboard, however there are other brands available. dougburns Posted May 13, 2010 #11 Share Posted May 13, 2010 The insuite refrigerators definitely do not have a freezer section. Your ice bucket will be in the fridge and will be restocked as often as you like. Just call your butler.
tbgc Posted May 13, 2010 #12 Share Posted May 13, 2010 How do I know which brands of alcohol is complimentary? I don't want to request something before cruise and find extra charges on my bill.
unfathomable Posted May 13, 2010 #13 Share Posted May 13, 2010 Most of the well-known brands are complimentary. A few super-luxury brands are extra-cost. Some examples (these were correct in November, IIRC): Black Label whisky is complimentary (but Blue Label isn't); most gins and vodkas are complimentary, including Bombay and Grey Goose; Remy Martin is complimentary. You can always ask, of course: there is no particular need to pre-order your in-room drinks because the staff will usually sort out any requests on the same day. Or ask here if you have something specific in mind, and mostly somebody will know.
wripro Posted May 13, 2010 #14 Share Posted May 13, 2010 Unless you are requesting something extraordinary such as a Louis XIII cognac or Johnny Walker Blue you can assume that pretty much everything is complimentary (Grey Goose, Bombay Sapphire, JW Black etc.) And even if you ordered something not included you would be asked to sign and there would not be a surprise on your bill. dougburns Posted May 13, 2010 #16 Share Posted May 13, 2010 You really don't need to request your alcohol preferences prior to the cruise. Just tell your butler when you get aboard and it will be there within an hour or so.
patnlcc Posted May 13, 2010 #17 Share Posted May 13, 2010 I asked for Bombay Sapphire gin in my cabin and was told they only had Tanqueray which was totally acceptable, but I was a tad annoyed to see Bombay Sapphire in the bars
unfathomable Posted May 13, 2010 #18 Share Posted May 13, 2010 I remember some more-esoteric things taking longer to get. IIRC various stores are open at different times. This is speculation, but perhaps only a limited range is available at all hours?

wripro Posted May 22, 2010 #23 Share Posted May 22, 2010 As previously posted I find it much more efficient to ask when I board and it's there in an hour.
unfathomable Posted May 22, 2010 #24 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Can you request what you would wish in your minibar in advance? You can ask: use the "anything else" section when completing your guest details in "My Voyage" online. As wripro says, however, it is just as effective (sometimes more so) to talk to the cabin staff when you board.
