alexpress Posted May 22, 2010 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Is Norwegian Epic the ugliest ship you have ever seen
spencercoop Posted May 22, 2010 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Yes. When they first released the renderings for the Epic, there were so many threads talking about it. The "top hat" looks so weird.
linkerbink Posted May 22, 2010 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2010 I'd hate to be in ship that during a stiff wind....looks like it might topple over! Pretty ugly...
Parkay Posted May 22, 2010 #4 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Not just ugly, but stupid looking and silly looking too.
Rare NorbertsNiece Posted May 22, 2010 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2010 I just googled it..... very bizarre shape...not aesthetic at all.
bionicman97 Posted May 22, 2010 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Definitely would stand out it in a port. ;-)
kyriecat Posted May 22, 2010 #7 Share Posted May 22, 2010 I think Grand Princess is uglier - it looks like the back end was cut off in an industrial accident.

cruizeblues Posted May 22, 2010 #9 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Might not be pretty, but I'd sail on her if they were giving away a week :D

Albert Ross Posted May 22, 2010 #11 Share Posted May 22, 2010 It looks like someone has put a car park on top of her! And the Princess ships look like supermarket trolleys from the back with a handle to push them along. RCI ships are prettier.
Mydnite Posted May 22, 2010 #12 Share Posted May 22, 2010 I just looked at the deck plans, on on the 19th deck there is the 'posh sundeck" hmmmm
negc Posted May 22, 2010 #13 Share Posted May 22, 2010 While I agree with the consensus about the general attractiveness (or lack of it) of the NCL Epic, is an RCI board really the appropriate place for negative comments about a ship belonging to another cruise line? If you feel so strongly about this matter, wouldn't it be better to go to the NCL board and voice your opinion? I have done so and also raised some questions about other features of the ship, including the "one-way" glass looking out on the hallway from the interior studio cabins. That seems a much more appropriate venue for debating the relative merits of the ship, and in truth, the people on the NCL boards have somewhat mixed opinions on the ship but seem to be more willing to accept and discuss differing opinions than we sometimes see on here.:)
endymion6942 Posted May 22, 2010 #14 Share Posted May 22, 2010 I agree, the NCL Epic looks a bit strange. The Grand Princess looks like shopping cart on steroids. However, the interior of the Grand Princess is pretty having been on her in December. I am more concerned how a ship looks on the inside since I am not the one sitting onshore watching ships come and go. As far as the Epic is concerned, I will be in my Courtyard Villa "inside" the ugly hat part while we are on the inaugural crossing from Southampton to New York. I will report back to let you know if the inside is ugly. But I think my view from my bathtub will be pretty nice.
Emeswede Posted May 22, 2010 #15 Share Posted May 22, 2010 I like Epic, it seems cool and it sticks out because of that. We shouldn't complain
Rare silentbob007 Posted May 22, 2010 #16 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Frankly where my cruising money goes is not decided by the aesthetics of the ship.

TrikeRider Posted May 22, 2010 #18 Share Posted May 22, 2010 OMG really? Who cares what a ship looks like. I am more concerned as to what it offers and where it goes.

I hated the look of the Oasis at first but I am looking forward to one day going on it. Same for the Epic. I pick by itinerary first so neither are high on my list right now. yogimax Posted May 22, 2010 #20 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Who cares if it looks ugly? It's the cruise experience that matters.

My thought process is/was that both ships are too big with so much stuff that you can't really enjoy either ship during a 7 day cruise and also enjoy port days. Thus the TA.:D I do want to do the Oasis or the Allure for a relocation (TA) but I am restricted since my DW is a teacher and my two teenage sons have school.:(

By bringing these issues to my attention, it should significantly lessen the unintentional boarding of the incorrect vessel. If is was in port along side a ship with the physical characteristics of a vessel such as the Serenade of the Seas this information could prove invaluable.:D
BroncosFan2010 Posted May 22, 2010 #23 Share Posted May 22, 2010 I think this ship is anything but aesthetically pleasing. It just looks stupid. Oh well, I will never cruise NCL anyway. It ranks right up there with Carnival in my book.

Aquahound Posted May 22, 2010 #25 Share Posted May 22, 2010 Yea, the Epic is pretty goofy looking. However, Carnival is giving it a run for it's money with the Fantasy Class that has the new balconies added. Let's not forget....RC had a pretty weird looking ship back in the day also. Remember the Viking Serenade?
