Awesome review...loving the pics. The beach at Tulum was amazing and so refreshing after all that heat! We went in May 2008 and it was brutally hot but a "can't miss" excursion (esp. for a history buff). I've been to Cozumel several times and I was glad I did the tour of the ruins at Tulum at least once.

DAY 5 - BELIZE

Shore Excursion: Cave Tubing

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 

I was just as excited to visit Belize as i was Roatan because i had never been there on any of my previous cruises. From the very minute we booked this cruise everyone had unanimously agreed to do the cave tubing excursion. So once again the whole group was to be together. Kevin, Amy and i got up early and made our way to the lower deck to meet our tender boat.

 

 

Ah the water was beautiful as expected!! We boarded our boat and prepared to leave. The Carnival Victory was in the background behind us.

 

 

We made our way to Belize

 

 

I love tendering. I like the water and the view of the cruise ship from our little boat. Its alot of fun!! We made our way to my first view of Belize.

 

 

We docked at the pier and exited. Where were the girls?????

 

 

We made our way past the Carnival photo stop LOL and were waiting in line at our excursion spot for the other girls to show up. We had called their room earlier and told them we would meet them in Belize. No sign of them!!

 

 

The tour guide had a clipboard of those booked for the excursion and you could tell they were anxious for the rest of our group to arrive but still no sign of the girls!!

We were told it was time to leave and we made our way to the tour bus. The man checking tickets was our guide. Still no sign of the girls!!!!

 

As we were about to pull away i see the girls running to the bus!! They just made it. They got on board and said they didnt realize it was going to take so long to tender. Thank god! we all would be able to enjoy this excursion! The tour bus moved through the city and then into the rural areas of Belize on our way to the cave tubing!

 

 

 

Our tour guide had large shoes to fill after our amazing guide in Tulum. He wasnt quite as good but he gets props because he would be with us not only on the bus but he also was our guide in the caves themselves. Quite amazing!! Our bus ride was about an hour. When we finally arrived we exited the bus and waited to be taken to the site.

 

 

 

We had to wait a few minutes for another bus to come and take us to the cave tubing site....Once the bus arrived we boarded and took a short ride to the site. We went to get our water shoes and equipment.

Then we hiked about 20 minutes up the hill to the cave site.

 

 

 

We finally made our way to a clearing and their was a waist high rock wall. I walked up and looked over to this view below.

 

 

We made our way down some rock steps to the water and the guides held our tubes as we got on them. They linked us by our feet.

 

 

After a few moments the guides attached themselves to the front of us and propelled us forward into the caves!

The guides moved us forward inside the caves. We all had helmets with lights on so we could see. At times it was very dark but it was cool and very relaxing inside the caves. I just sat back and enjoyed the ride. Our bus guide was our cave guide as well!

After about 15 minutes there was some light!

When we hit this spot the currents picked up and we moved a bit faster. It was a lot of fun!!

We moved back into the dark caves and that lasted for awhile until we came to another clearing and the end of our tour.

 

 

We were in the caves for about an hour and it was very peaceful. The girls would later say they thought there would be more rapids or more to the excursion but i enjoyed the shade and the smooth ride. Highly recommended and im glad i did this excursion for sure!

 

After exiting the caves it was nice to be at the bottom of thi hill and we had a short walk back to our bus. Here is a shot of the lagoon as we exited the caverns.

We returned our gear and boarded our bus for the ride back to port. Belize had been good to us!

 

 

We boarded our boat and prepared to go back to our DREAM! The deck party was coming up later tonight!!!!!!

We boarded our ship dropped our stuff off in our rooms.

 

 

Kevin and i decided to go up on deck to catch the boat leaving and we grabbed a drink from the aft bar.

The boat started moving and you could see the Victory in the background!

NIGHT 5 - DECK PARTY

After dinner it was time to get ready for the deck party which is a highlight for me on every cruise. I love watching people have fun and that is exactly what the party is all about. This is probably the best one i have been apart of. The theme was "Mardi Gras" and the cruise assistants were throwing beads into the crowd. It was a night i will never forget. Enjoy the pics! And party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We all had a great time!!! Ashley Edwin and i left to get some food in the buffet restaurant. Ashley was hilarious!! The drinks had gotten to her. HA HA

LOL a few of us ended up in the Caliente Dance club that night but not for long. We crashed soon after. Costa Maya was our last stop coming up!!
