Now - to change the subject a bit... Is the new DP perk for free laundry one bag per CABIN or one bag per DP MEMBER? I'm asking to be able to start planning my packing for our B2B on the Radiance in October. (Carry-on each only - vs - one bag for the two of us - vs one bag each.)

Never believe a rep. We know that now, don't we. ;)

If someone doesn't get their extra credit from an upgrade, that may very well be the error. And then the rep is just brushing it off as an avoidance tactic.

Gina

If you pay for it you have earned the extra credit..........if you are upgraded due to availability........then just enjoy the upgrade but without the added cruise credit.

does that mean DP gets called first(21 days out) then D gets called 14 days out??

7 days :D

14 before for Diamond

21 before for Dplus

That's the way it should be...............

Question - are any of the new benefits: restaurant, photo, laundry, internet etc., per stateroom, or are they all per coupon book?

It's per coupon book.

But they are still giving out the extra cruise credit.

Yes, I know they are...........my comment was how I feel C&A should handle awarding credits. Unfortunately but lucky for many, my opinion doesn't count.:D

You know I feel the same way. We've discussed this before I think. :) I'd sure be happy with the upgrade minus the extra credit.

Getting the extra credit on an upgrade is a lot like getting flyer miles on an award flight,- doesn't and shouldn't happen.

But in the case of cruising, it does and shouldn't happen.

I'd love to get those miles on an award flight....double miles for a first class unpaid flight. Wouldn't that be great? :D

In the case of D+ vs D, I would guess that the amount paid trumps tier level and time of booking, that is, if they are trying at all to give out things on a logical basis.

You are correct. The teeny-tiny fine print says just this. They award the upgrades based on your C&A status (with the highest D+ going first), and then when you booked. So, two D+ with the same number of credits; the one who booked earliest would get the upgrade first. Depending on the number of D+, the D members may or may not get an upgrade. I've been on 4 cruises since making D+ and was offered an upgrade once, and asked for one from the LA on a b2b which I got 4 nights into the second cruise.

Yea,but with this new wording, they added the price comes into play..

Shouldn't have made a difference unless you had separate accounts set up with different credit card numbers.

We've been on cruises where we would swap coupons with friends. Those that didn't need internet time gave us theirs and those high rollers got ours.:D Never had a problem.

We used to swap coupons all the time until one time I was told that I already had 2 free computer coupons on my record and I couldn't have any more applied. They'd rather they go to waist than apply them else where I guess.

As to the upgrades......I have been upgraded to a JS twice and received the extra credit. That being said, I'll take the update even without the credit any time they want to give it to me.:D

I would still think the one who paid more would get the upgrade...but what I think is irrelevant. I think we will never know.

Gina

Thats the thing.....we never will know

I must have missed that teeny-teeny-tiny fine print! I'm thinking of the printed flyer I got in the mail; must have missed the cost of cabin criteria.

I'm curious what date C&A will use for the booking date when looking at possible D+ upgrades??? I used a Next Cruise that was purchased in Feb 2008 for our upcoming Navigator TA in October. On my invoice it shows the booking date as Feb 10, 2008 even though I didn't convert it to the Transatlantic cruise until May 2009.

I hope it's the booking date on the invoice as we're hoping that the elusive upgrade fairy pays us our first visit. ;)

I'd say chances for an upgrade on that cruise are VERY slim! The ship appears to be full of high volume cruisers. I'd be happy just to get a more centrally located cabin:eek:

I know the chaces are slim to none on that cruise but one can always hope. We've been D+ for a few years and no upgrade yet. We're also doing the Med cruise before the TA so maybe we have a chance on that one. :)

I'm still curious as to what date C&A will use for the booking date?

I usually swap my casino coupons for the free specialty coffee coupons.:D

The reasonable thing to do would be to use the date of your NC purchase, since that is the date of record for other issues.

That being said, I think they have worded their upgrade policy so that it really will be impossible to determine who is next in line. Booking date, tier level, and price paid are all factors. Add into that the 'space available' caveat and D+ vs D and it all adds up to a big fat zero in terms of explainability as to who gets what and why.

They said that they 'clarified' their upgrade policy but I disagree. Clarification would mean they explicitly state that booking time trumps tier level trumps price paid, etc, and they haven't done that. They just suggest criteria used in making the final decision. And it's all space-available.

They clarified it alright. They clarified why there is no rhyme or reason to their upgrade policy.
